For Christians, how do you view Jesus?

Aside from the Biblical stories OF Jesus, what are your personal views of Him? Now that I've come back to the faith, my views of Him are different than what they were prior to my deconversion. He can change lives, He is not only interested in showing us how to love, but He IS love. Incredible to someone like me who had 'shut out' Jesus for a while.

Look forward to hearing your own views. :sunflower:

You dont sound convinced if you want to hear other views on Jesus.

Convinced of what? I'm asking how other Christians view Him. We are individuals, you know. lol :)

There may be very critical outlooks towards him. o_O But i think Jesus, the man, was a man of his time and most probably had alot of 'pagan' influences on him, because of the country and teritory he inhabited. Galilee was very pagan and there tons of Temples to the gods and whatnot. Even the Synagogues, the most Jewish places of all, of Galilee depicts pagan symbols and concepts. Its funny that these things are never mentioned in the Gospels though. Infact when you read the Gospels you kind of get a very secular vibe from them. If you knew anything about that time and land you would be surprised to find out that it was extremely superstitious.

Appreciate your thoughts but why I put in the thread title ''for Christians'' is I'd like to read their view, in terms of their own ''relationship'' to Him.

Since im no longer a Christian i will share with you how i viewed Jesus before my de-conversion.

Jesus was the Son of God born to a pure woman, Mary the mother of God. He did many astonishing miracles, clearly proving his divine nature and being a humble man about it, only giving further proof of his Lordship. He made no distictions between women and men and healed both according to their illness, because God loves us all equally. He showed his condemnation of the self-righteous Jewish leader, who thought they were so perfect that they couldnt do anything wrong and made themselves superior to everybody else. And He approved of a simple life, not a life where you strive for empty goals such as gaining more and more wealth, no, for him it was more important that you have a kind heart towards your family, friends and strangers than it was to be 'successful' in life. He was God in the flesh and a perfect sinless victim, on our behalf, to redeem us from the bondage of sin.

Yeah that was basically my understanding of Jesus.

No doubt Jesus would be pleased you've come back to having faith in Jesus.

' What is truth', of course, that is what Jesus taught as ' religious truth ' - John 17:17 - meaning the Scriptures are: religious truth.

1 John 4:8 says: God 'IS' love
At John 4:23-24 Jesus instructed to worship, Not him, but worship his God ' the Father '
Jesus came to finish God's work - John 4:34 - which would be to seek out sincere people by the preaching work - Luke 4:43
Gospel writer John wrote at Revelation 1:5; Revelation 3:14 that Jesus is the beginning of the creation by God.
Only God was before the beginning according to Psalms 90:2.
So, the pre-human created Jesus was Not before the beginning as God was before the beginning.
The resurrected ascended-to-heaven Jesus still thinks he has a God above him - Revelation 3:12
Jesus never taught that ' Jesus is love ' but that his Father is greater than all - John 10:29; John 14:28
and that only his Father is ' good ' - Mark 10:18
So, according to Jesus: only ' God is good ' and only ' God is love '.

We can have the same personal view of Jesus as John had at John 1:18; 1 John 4:12; John 1:34 that Jesus truly is: God's Son.
We can also have the same personal view as:
Nathanael at John 1:49
Peter and the apostles at John 6:69
Martha at John 11:27
and Jesus' words at John 10:36 that he is the Son of God

By the way your profile picture is absolutely beatiful(but thats just aside).

Thank you, it's a painting the reminds me of my late grandmother who was a red head, and bears a striking resemblance to her. My grandmother was beautiful, inside and out.

That's a really interesting view, what changed this view? See for me, I'm not sure I invested much time in getting to know Jesus, before my deconversion. Coming back to faith now, was largely due to feeling the Holy Spirit come into my life, and since that day, I feel very close to the man of Jesus. Sometimes we forget about the man.

But this closeness, it's as though he is right here with me, and I hadn't felt that before. I knew of Jesus, and read ABOUT Him, but to be close to Him, always seemed like a far off idea.

So glad you posted this, for yes, Jesus didn't wish to be worshiped. His desire was that we worship God, and that we love others. He himself was love.
((thank you!)) :)

Ive known a beatiful redhead, in her 30's, and she was not only perfect in looks(never needing make-up) but she was extermely bright too! Yeah.... too bad she was that old, older than me by 10 years, and freshly married when i met her.

I had an experience of god and he said he was not jesus. basically 'the holy spirit' made me disbelieve, if you will. god said that everything is governed by destinity and that we are made to believe whatever god wishes for us to believe. and that we all go to heaven when we die, because you cant go against gods will. since he controls all of our wills.

This is interesting. I believe that there are many paths to God, and one of those paths is Jesus. Jesus didn't suggest that He was God, but in looking at the stories, He was Light, He was Divine. There is much about the Bible, that is contradictory and tends to be illogical. One of the reasons I had left the faith. But, to experience God touching your life is a different story. The experience to me, is more valuable than reading a bunch of stories and nodding in agreement with them all.

I dont want to crush your faith because its an amazing thing but there are alot of things, after my experience of god, that made me confident in the disbelieve. I wrote an entire book where i talk about these issues.

If you only knew the winding path I've been on for like the past two years since deconverting, you would know nothing will crush this for me, now. :sunflower:
Everyone has to find what they feel closest too. Do you believe in God?

You will be assimilated; it is His Will.

Though it does appear that it contradicts, it doesn't. Remember that. But it is difficult to unravel, and none of us see the whole story. It is not written to be an easy read, otherwise you would not need the Spirit to guide you.. The lord is the Spirit (Cor)

God is real. If not, you put your faith on luck. I stick with intelligence.

:) For me its not a matter of belief anymore. Since i heard him talk to me directly. But this god is not as the biblical god because he is very, how should i put it, comical. he makes alot of jokes about himself and me(like an atheist would). And his communication occurs to me through female as well as male voices. He told me also alot of perverse things, which i dont want to go in detail with. But yeah overall, before, when i was a christian, i liked my worldview alot. it game me some sort of power and confidence in an even greater being, namely Christ, to put my faith in. Now on the other hand i just do what is in my own interest. I still experience 'god' he is still talking about my personal future, however strange that might sound to you, and reveals to me all the details of my life. I wish this voice to be silent though, because when you hear a voice revealing to you the future it becomes very annoying fast. It is much better to be alone then to be always re-assured that there is a god.

Welcome back. I am pleased you believe again. I hope you don't fall again.
I don't know how to explain my relationship with him, but I think it is different, from what I can see, for each person. He is all things to all man, but he also makes up all things and hold all things together. He is everything. He has changed my life drastically. One day we shall see him as he is, for we shall be like him (1Jh) What do you think of that? That is another world, another reality, something new, unique, wonderful and inspiring, with all bad things forgotten and all things new; in a different form.

My view of Jesus is that He's not only Lord and Saviour, He's also my best friend, somebody who can relate to me and my feelings.
Absolutely, to me he was more than Lord and Saviour. He was like a husband(even though im male myself) and a perfect leader. Whatever his word was i would follow, he was a friend, a companion. He would give his saving hand to pull you out from the pit of hell. He was the person you could fully trust. But this all went away and the new knowledge kicked in.

First, if memory serves me right, you and I have sparred before. lol If I've ever offended you, over faith issues, my apologies. I mean that. And for now, I'll take your word on the Bible. :D There are passages that I always liked though, and maybe I can go from there for now.

You are interesting.I feel this way, too. The power of the Holy Spirit is real, at least we seem to think so. I agree with your last sentiment, but when you feel His presence, I mean for real, not just believing He may be real...it changes everything, and you no longer need reassurance from anyone. Or any book. The Bible now to me, instead of an instructional, looks more like a book of stories to show me that what these people experienced could have very well been real, and they wanted others to read about it. (I thought it was all BS when I left Christianity and eventually turned to an atheist view)

Welcome back. I am pleased you believe again. I hope you don't fall again.
Thank you :) I didn't fall though. I just didn't know what I was missing, until I left it. All the paths that kept turning up, paths that led to other faiths and beliefs, left me a little empty. Except Islam.

I agree. It's funny, but before deconverting, I didn't believe in heaven and hell. But, now...not so much hell, but heaven may very well exist. This place where everything is as it should be, and there is an amazing Light that no one can put out. And that radiance came to this earth, in the form of a man. It is that radiance that we all should strive to be more like, so yes...I agree.

My view of Jesus is that He's not only Lord and Saviour, He's also my best friend, somebody who can relate to me and my feelings.

This is so nice, and agree. I didn't always think this though, but this new found feeling can only be described as 'being saved.'

But, He didn't go away. :sunflower:
