Can God give his holy spirit to individuals or do you have to belong to an established organization first?

Can god speak to individuals

I occasionally hear God speak to me, when I was younger my contact was much stronger, I could ask God questions and hear answers, unfortunately part of my "gift" is considered a mental illness (manic depression), and years of taking anti psychotic medication has made it more difficult for me to have contact with God, as the medicine is designed to reduce "voices" both real and imagined.

The gospel John in chapter 3, Jesus says that the spirit is like the wind going wherever it will. "You do not know where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit."
Yes, of course. God can do whatever He wants.

What really comes first, is that you have to have a true knowledge about God. In the same time God wants people to know Him, so he can help you to understand His written word when you sincerely ask for such help.
