Socialism would bridge the gaps between the very wealthy and very poor.
Stones are dead as they should be.

I assume you mean Bernie Sanders...

Not Colonel Sanders...

:D

Do you think (Bernie) Sanders has a chance at the Democratic Nomination or is the 'hurrah for Hillary' campign a foregone conclusion?

It would be nice if the outsider got a chance like Obama did back in 2008 as democracy isn't supposed to be based on the stream-lined efficiency. Democracy gives us the right to make a mess if it's worth it. Obama's not been a great President, but is a 'good one', especially compared to his predecesscor. I hope Bernie gets a shot, but I'm pretty sure the word "socialist" will turn off most of the older US Voters. it is unknown territory. it would certianly be good for the US to at least debate it and seriously entertian the possibility. It would be a fair response to the growing inequalities and decline of the middle class bringing out legitimate questions over the future of capitalism (not even mentioning the evironmental stuff), so a shift leftwards you be very reasonable.

I think I will register as a dem to vote for him. I'm not sure he can win if he gets the nomination. Though i general despise both parties republicans are worse imo. would happy have a reb pres if it meant we actually considered a socialist.

...which is also stone dead.

We are the remnants of a dream.

I don't know about that. Listening to some of the commentaries out there, you'd think that socialism is some kind of infectious plague spreading like wildfire, infecting everyone's soul and plotting to turn everyone into mutants. If the powers that be are still afraid of socialism, it must still alive somewhere.

On the contrary, he may be able to win because he's the only candidate that crosses party lines. Republicans hate Hillary; most of them won't even consider voting for her.

The biggest issue Bernie has is that lots of people still don't know who he is.

Meh with all the other active Socialist boards on the web this wouldn't be my first place to go. I mostly enjoy the Right Wingers flipping their **** on The Jacobin's facebook page.

Because instead of discussing it, I watch Richard Wolff's videos. XD

I'm rooting for Bernie Sanders though, even if I'm not American... I hope the best for him and that he can change some false perception of socialism that is still so widespread because of the past.

If I were looking for a forum to discuss my political ideas it would never enter my head to google Religious Forums, so I for one cannot complain about inactivity. However when talking of the meaning of life some issues arise which can only be described as political. It is in this sense that this subforum is fully justified and 'earns its keep'.

Socialism dead, I think history will show that we are still in the beginning.
