JW's Preach A Different Gospel

"There is no evidence that for the first 300 years after Christ’s death, those claiming to be Christians used the cross in worship. In the fourth century, however, pagan Emperor Constantine became a convert to apostate Christianity and promoted the cross as its symbol. Whatever Constantine’s motives, the cross had nothing to do with Jesus Christ. The cross is, in fact, pagan in origin. The New Catholic Encyclopedia admits: “The cross is found in both pre-Christian and non-Christian cultures.” Various other authorities have linked the cross with nature worship and pagan sex rites.

Why, then, was this pagan symbol promoted? Apparently, to make it easier for pagans to accept “Christianity.” Nevertheless, devotion to any pagan symbol is clearly condemned by the Bible. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) The Scriptures also forbid all forms of idolatry. (Exodus 20:4, 5; 1 Corinthians 10:14) With very good reason, therefore, true Christians do not use the cross in worship."

But they have no problem promoting this "pagan symbol" on the cover of their magazine (upper left-hand corner).

Like most doctrines the Watchtower has it wrong when it comes to the cross of Christ.
Jesus was crucified on a cross.
1. The Greek word 'Stauros' can mean multiple things like a "T" an "X" along with the rare upright stake (for what Jesus was crucified on).
2. The Bible says Jesus had nails (more than one) in his hands. If it only was a stake, they would have used only one.
3. The Bible also says his arms were "outstretched" meaning stretched outward which shows his arms were not above him as on a stake.
4. A sign was placed "above his head" which wouldn't happen on a stake. It would have been above his hands. So he was crucified on a cross. That's what the bible and history says.
So having scripture interpret scripture, we see THAT scripture proves Jesus died on a Cross. Sadly the Watchtower Completely Misinforms it's members :(

I've found it more politically correct to refer to the WT/GB as making "FAILED PREDICTIONS" as apposed to false prophecies, since they have never "claimed" to be prophets.
You don't need to be a prophet in order to make a prophecy.

proph·e·cy
ˈpräfəsē/
noun
noun: prophecy; plural noun: prophecies
a prediction.
"a bleak prophecy of war and ruin"
synonyms: prediction, forecast, prognostication, prognosis, divination, augury
"her prophecy is coming true"
So, while you may prefer to refer to the WT/GB as making "failed predictions," it's certainly no more politically correct, unless, that is, your politics is one of defending the reputation of JWs.
Is that what your politics are?

I'm very curious to see a Jehovahs Witness defend Jesus was crucified on a stake. It's not so much a challenge but a "Why do you believe it when scripture says otherwise?"

All christian groups teach a different gospel, no matter how small or big they all interpret the bible differently. If they didn't then there wouldn't be different denominations.

So true, and the reason why I left organized religion.

It's a video of a gentleman at a 2015 JW "IMITATE JESUS" convention in California. It doesn't matter if he claims to be a Christian or not. He's standing outside as hundreds of JW's walk by and he's asking them if they imitate Jesus. Only "ONE" lady, (probably the only anointed one there) said yes, every other person looked away and just walked by without saying a word. You don't need sound to see the clear arrogance of these people.
Ha ha!
Oh how dreadful! I'm so horrified! :D
I wouldn't need sound to realise the gross contention that the film-maker and gentleman intended!
Why would anybody bother to do this?

What exceptional people JWs are if hundreds could walk past this sad tw-t and not one of them told him that he was a jerk. :D
You have distorted vision, my friend, if you do not understand the difference between arrogance and quiet humility.

I agree, we're in no way promoting our faith on this forum. We don't try to shine the "LIGHT" of "TRUTH" on the deception of the WT. All we're doing is bashing them.
Yep..........
In a world of monthly terrorist attacks (this month it's a machine gunning of hundreds tourists on a Tunisian beach, 38 dead), and wars, and senior public servants cheating, and bank directors swindling, and violence and crime to right and left, with many western countries riddled with 'old-boy', 'school tie' and secret networks, you want to show a film of a bloke trying to embarrass JWs .......... as your main theme of the hour, day, week?
I think you've lost the plot, mate. :)

A man caliing himself Christian went to a convention of JWs and asked all those who passed by him if they imitate Jesus. That is all he said to each one. "Do you imitate Jesus". Obviously they were warned about him and most likely they were told to ignore him. Only one person answered him with "yes, of course we do". The other one who stopped to talk to him seemed to have made a mistake and corrected herself right away. The point of the video is that they are taught not to think for themselves. Which is a good thing or a bad thing, according to you?
Hi Savage........ :)
I like individual investigation.
The one big benefit of being an outsider, a loner, is that I can decide upon my own crazy ideas about the world and life.
I think that you might be a loner as well, but at least that makes you free because you are here............ it's the thing that I like very much about you......... you are free as a wild-goose. I do love that.

Savage...... look at RF. Do you notice how some noted religions and faiths have very few members on RF? I can think of at least four straight off. There could be many. These are the religions whose truth is dictated or written by prophets, or those who have an assembly which decides upon their tenets. The only (frequently-posting) followers who come on RF from those religions are chosen or accepted as representatives, is my guess.

And so a very few, (only two members in the case of one faith,) are on RF to represent a whole world-wide religion and write most carefully about it's exact tenets. I only know of several JWs who post on RF, for instance.

So when belligerent folks deliberately set up threads to bonk faiths and groups, leaving lone followers to shoulder the extreme burdens of having to get every post exactly perfect, free loner folks like me, who don't mind heated debate but don't like bullies, step aside, not to support a faith that they cannot accept, but to give support to people who are liked and much respected.

Truth is, a massive % of JWs have proved over decades that JWs are one of the most trustworthy, fair, honest and genuine people in the world, and that makes them special. And although I can't accept their beliefs they do need their honesty to be witnessed, if not their creed.

The Jw's are just another religion who believe they have the truth, I was in the Seventh Day Adventist that also thought the same way, they called themselves the remint of God, or the last piece of truth. The JW's are the same, and most religions are also the same, its nothing but a big sideshow, and all these poor people believe their side show is the true sideshow, its nothing put crap.

This is definitely true. But how many denominations have such mind control over their members? They have such control, the GB tells them what clothes they can and can't wear.

You deserve a cookie!! Nice subtle attack on the thread! No one is bashing the JW's as people, it's the WTBTS and the GB that has them blinded.

Look......... do you have a better vision of the truth?
Do you have a faith more certain?
Instead of knocking JWs, try and tell us about you, and yours.
At the moment it's looking as if you are an ex-JW who is upset, angry and thus posting aggressive stuff.
So here's your chance to tell us what your situation is.

So now you've invented your own religion, and it's the last piece of truth, right? Why not pick up a Bible, read it, and let the Holy Spirit guide you to what is truth. Don't listen to other people. Just take a deep breath, pick up a Bible, and quietly sit and read it. In the past, you looked for answers outside of the Bible, such as SDA (who claim to use the Scriptures). You didn't find it. But if you are truly seeking God's truth, Jesus promises you will find it. My best to you.
