It'd be off topic to get into debate about this, so I'll restate and that will be the end of it.

I definitely agree that the clash between liberal and conservative Catholics and sex/procreation issues are a derail.
What about Laudato Si? In your personal views and experiences?
Anecdotes from your friends, family, fellow parishioners?

I haven't read too much of Laudato Si, but what I have read, I do like. Basically the Pope's point seems to be that we've made a lot of mistakes in how we treat the environment, and by viewing our planet and her resources as something to be exploited, and building our economies off of that, we begin to see one another as exploitable and expendable. To exploit either our world or each other is a sin, because we fail to live up to our call as stewards of creation, and we fail to care for our brother and love our neighbor as ourselves. Instead, we become abusers of creation and destroyers of one another.

Here's the actual encyclical if anyone wants to read it.

The Pope still isn't a scientist.

Well, if you don't want to listen to the Pope because he isn't a scientist, listen to the actual scientists, the vast majority of whom agree with him that global climate change is real and is caused by man.

Be careful not to fall into the fallacy of the people depicted in this parody article published by the comedic Internet site, The Onion:

Sorry, but using numbers to argue your point doesn't work with me.

I would greatly appreciate your not derailing the thread.
You and I agree on a bunch of things. But what I am interested in here is lay Catholics persons views, anecdotes and experiences.
Not the Onion
