I am proud of myself and my accomplishments. And, I am a heterosexual man. But, because heterosexuals have not been discriminated against, I fail to see a reason to have "heterosexual pride".
Really? You don't fear that the world will become gay except for you? Imagine the pain of not fitting in and of not being able to find a partner.

As a proud straight guy who fights straight erasure & straight bashing, I'm organizing a straight pride parade.
Join up!
th
I notice that all your participants appear to be while males...doesn't look appropriately gender-diverse enough for straight pride...:D

I'm a proud, heterosexual male.
What about you?
Yes. Because you had a choice in the matter. I find this as patently stupid as I find patriotism and racism to be.

That said, do let me know when an actual, documentable effort to take away your rights is made. I'm just gonna sit over here and not hold my breath. ;)

I am sure your brave, heart-warming declaration of your heterosexuality in such an oppressive, hateful climate has touched the hearts of everyone. Truly, it has moved me to tears. I will be forever changed by this declaration that you are a member of the over-whelming majority of not just human, but all forms of organic life that reproduce sexually. Your struggle, by being part of what may be the single highest-represented group on the planet, is one that will fill us all with determination and passion for many years to come.

Nobody puts baby in a corner.

It's now so much easier to come out.

I will be able to pass down the family genes so, yes--they were awfully supportive
Ah, the tired old trope that one can either be heterosexual or fertile, but not both. You may be interested to know that the same medical advances which exist for infertile straight couples can be utilized by gay couples, with comparable rates of success.

I am a little wary of "straight pride" groups or affiliations, if they in fact exist, for the same reason I'm a little wary of "white pride" groups. That reason being that such groups seem more like a political statement against gay pride or black groups or whatever than their own thing, and tend to have hints of bigotry in them. It's not that such groups would by definition *have* to be political statements against minority groups or have hints of bigotry in them, it's that in practice, they usually seem to.

The thing is, when you form a "pride" organization or something similar, usually it's because you're part of an often-disparaged or discriminated against minority group. So, you form an organization that lets you and people who are like you and agree with your cause celebrate who you are as a counter to the general cultural message that would say you are explicitly or implicitly somehow "wrong" or "less than".

I don't see where straight white people are discriminated against for being straight and white very often. And I say that as a straight white guy. So why do we need a straight pride group? The gays have one because they are standing up for themselves against discrimination and such.

"Straight pride" seems to me to be similar to what "men's rights" usually stands for. In other words, a euphemism for chauvinistic garbage.

Oh....I heart this thread like I do the Christian-persecution-in-the-U.S. threads and white power proclamations.

Well, go on with your bad selves. We still throw the better pride parties. We have glitter tattoos, disco music, and free condoms.

Geeze....someone got up on the wrong side of the bed today!
Straight folk rarely endure discrimination (ignoring one obsolete law in my town),
while Americastanian men actually do have legitimate gripes about their legal status....
- We're the only ones who get drafted into wars.
- We have greater child custody difficulties.
Don't be a hater.
And don't fight or erase other groups' efforts for justice.

I try to not to respond to peoples' semantical nonsense with equalivent nonsense.

Wow, this thread really has gone full Social Justice Warrior, huh?
I don't see how anyone could be triggered by the fact that one can be proud of his/her traits!

Anyways, clearly I'm not progressive enough--should I make a tumblr account to compensate?

There's only so much pride to go around.
It should be reserved for the needy.
