Controlling the RF Addiction

Well, how do you do it? How do you control it when the addiction becomes to strong, before other aspects of your life become neglected?

As for myself, I occasionally take a break from RF, my mind exhausted and my will to debate somewhat diminished. I need time to regenerate.

How do I handle it? I've tried to go cold turkey, and that didn't work. I think what's helped me a ton is not having my own computer. I'm glad it is broken, I've gotten so much done!!

I'm still trying to find a way to control it, though there were times I really was close to quitting all together.

I hear you. Lately, I've felt the urge to leave but truly...there is an addictive quality to this place. If I did go...I'd honestly wonder what I was missing and...I would also miss alot of the people on here, as well.

 I have too many other interests to get addicted to an online forum.

A good, slow dial-up connecton helps, too.

For me, the problem is that I can't just drop by now and then. You get in on the middle of a long thread and what you have to say in a single post just doesn't seem worth the bother. I either have to be involved or not.

Why don't you just smash up every PC within one hundred miles radius. I'd imagine you would get landed with a big fine, but there'd be no PCs to RF and there would be bigger things to worry about!

well... i've spent some time away before... actually, just in case anyone wonders "where has Ashley gone?":

This week I'm going to try really hard in school. My grades have slipped from last semester. (having all A's to now mostly C's...oops....) Well, its not RF's fault, but this week is very important because I'm about to graduate, and I cant be sitting on the pass/fail line for the final exams i have to take. *EEK*

So this week, i'm going to take care of business. This starts Monday... and we'll see how long I cant hold out. Yes, Buttons, the prolific poster wont be here! (scary thought!) Be back on Friday though. ;)

Dont make too many good threads without me :D

I have only missed one week on RF since I have logged in a year and a half ago. Lately I have been lurking as a guest. This curbs my desire to pipe in and write and still gives me the opportunity to read (which indeed takes less time then posting). I still enjoy learnng about other peoples beliefs and seeing the ideas that they contribute and I still enjoy seeing how everyone is doing. Sometimes I will log in to distribute frubals to my favorite posts. But I will admit it is difficult (quitting smoking I think would be easier).
