Do you give people Books of mormon? If so, which people? Only your good friends? Other people? What do you write when you give them to the people?

I've given (secretly) friends from high school Books of Mormon. I haven't given anybody I know real well a Book of Mormon, although, I gave Ashley a Bible and wrote my testimony and such in the front.

BTW, hi Aqua!:disco: Yay! She's back for a few!:super:

i thank i have given "true to the faith" out more than the book of Mormon... they usually ask things and i reference to it... i like it its a good starting point for almost most topics... but i have given a book of Mormon to one of my closes friends, i wrote my testimony... i haven't brought it up since i gave it to her (where still really good friends)... oh well... i have left books of Mormon at the laundry matte, people sometimes while i am still there pick it up and start reading it, one person in particular looked very stressed and pick up the book and started reading it and that person look more relaxed... i thank most of them get thrown away; who knows...

Point of order: The correct plurel version (according to the Church) of "Book of Mormon" is "Copies of the Book of Mormon" - not Books of Mormon or Book of Mormons

I have given many, many copies away, but the large majority of those were on my mission, so they probably don't count as to what you are talking about. I haven't given all that many out outside of the mission.

I've only given them to people who have actually asked for them. I'm always happy to foot the small cost to buy and ship one, but I don't think I could ever just give one to someone without knowing up front that they were interested in reading it.

I have given them out, but only to people who were interested in reading it or learning more about the church. I haven't ever randomly given one away, although I always carry one in my glove box in case someone asks for one.

One time an idea came to me to place Russian copies of the Book of Mormon in a break area at work.

English copies of the Book of Mormon would be noticed for what they were, but Russian copies could be placed in such a way that no one would notice but my Russian comrads. It worked great. One Russian girl started reading on her breaks, which lasted for several days, and I told her she could take a copy for herself, which she did.

Soon thereafter I had to abandon my covert missionary Book of Mormon operation, but I had succesfully placed a Russian Book of Mormon in the hands a fellow Russian comrad/co-worker, and all behind the back of my Egyptian boss, who later found out what I had done and told me to get rid of the books.

It was a lot of fun just seeing the reactions of the Russian people I worked with, when they saw the Book of Mormon in their own language. I think that impresses people.

My wife used to give away copies of the Book of Mormon when we would eat out, which would frequently be at a Chinese restaurant. She would give a Chinese copy of the Book of Mormon to the waiter, manager or owner, along with a generous tip.

To all you people who have never just given out copies of the Book of Mormon (Thanks, Soy Leche :p) why not? Do you think it's ineffective or not worth it? Or perhaps a bad idea?

Point of order, the correct spelling of plural is plural :p that's what you get for being pedantic :biglaugh:

I've been giving a book of Mormon in the past, but after 20 minutes of agreeing that the world is a violent place, I eventually asked them to leave. What can I say? I'm a realist.

I was cleaning out and straightening up the library and RE office at church last night and found no less than half a dozen Books of Mormon. I have no idea why we have that many... anyway, just wanted to share that.
