woman in a face veil?

Strangely about "liberating people," as I've heard America's "attacks" on the Muslim world described as, I wonder where does it end? Does America have to go into every country on earth and make it into what they (we) think it should be?

There's a verse in the Qur'an that talks about confining certain women to their homes...if we Americans see that as wrong behavior, is it for us to go in and change their behavior?

Never mentioned anything about military anything. If anything I said sounded even remotely militant, that's not what I meant. Also, I'm not an American :p.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I thought you are American...I was so moved by the subject & lost in thought that my expression kind of suffered. Also though the post was a reply to you it was meant to be food for thought for other forum members. Sorry for any confusion.

They never are. Even if they haven't been directly coerced, they are wearing it as a result of the conditioning of their religious and cultural beliefs.

Starjade says; Now that is so very true. If it had not been for the culture of lets face it the Islamic religion then these items of clothing would not have been concieved. Of course years ago they had good reasons to cover their women. Nowadays Times changed and so should people. Let history be the past whiles the next generation thinks for the future.

I still think it would be a good idea to use a veil for just the ugly women. That could be so helpful.

What are you talking about, becoming (passive) aggressive suddenly? You're letting your hatred get the best of you. One must have good neutral intentions when they try to make comments, to make those comments useful. What did I do first exactly?

My remark was because of your point against people not blessed with good looks. It is no one's fault that they are born the way they look being less fortunate than others.

Making jokes about ugly people is not something to be done like that.

Why do you have this much hate in you? It is not worth it.

I have no hatred in me at all. I was just saying how it is but in a humourous way. Why hide a female in a huge burka sack.? Its cruel. You were the one moaning at my Joke about putting a Veil on the heads of all ugly women. If it makes you feel better they should do it to the men as well for some of them are real ugly. :)

Let only the pretty shine. :) I do apolagise to all ugly people in the world. I wasnt picking on you per se but was just having a bit of fun. No insult was intended no matter how it appeared. You just have to see some of those really ugly British Men /women if you did then you might understand my humourous comment {doh} I did it again didnt I tsk tsk tsk, :)

Anyways I was only joking. Why take things so seriously. Are Muslims not allowed to have a bit of fun. ? You can see I was only having a bit of a laugh about people who are being forced to wear a veil or burka. It is a curiosity as to the reasons why.

Here in Britain when plagues ravaged the land. People who had got the lurgy had sacks on their heads and also rang a bell to warn people they were coming. So really you are not taking into consideration the English culture that I am surrounded by. Perhaps that is why you did not understand my sense of humour. My comment would have been laughed at here in Britain even by the Ugly ones. :) Only you are making such a thing into a big deal. Whiles to me it was just another Sunday. :)

Believe me, I took it at as being a joke (I'm not saying it was funny) at first and didn't mind it at all, but once I saw the comment about ugly people all I did was feeling sad with no negative feelings towards you because we all do mistakes. But you instead of just saying it was a joke, you threw fuel on the fire. I was shocked at the passive aggressive looking post you maid because of a simple sad emoticon I put.

Having fun telling jokes is a nice thing to do, but it has its times, places and contexts. Ask other RF members about me before judging Muslims. Also, timing is important for jokes, and the choice of words too.

Your 'humorous' comment makes you look superficial. But hey if you think this is funny go ahead. Like I've mentioned before majority of Muslim women aren't forced. And I can't understand how women that are forced to wear a face veil is a laughing matter.
I live in Britain as well I don't think your comment would have been laughed at. But if telling yourself that makes you feel better...

Starjade says; Hello again Musliminblack. Trust in me I am very deep. I was not speaking of women forced to wear a veil. I replied to a comment someone else said in this thread that it was because of some being ugly. They also no doubt were just being humorous also. In Britain such garments are not a necessity and so it is simply worn only as a connection to an Islamic I.D. In other countries however, women are forced to wear full burkas and in extreme heat. Now for them their situation is not so funny. Many suggestions have been made in this thread by others as to why such a garment might be worn. - It is then not about why you wear a Burka or Veil but why some other Islamic women are seen to be wearing such a thing. There is a comment however not yet touched upon. The Burka or veil hides the face and body and ID of the person wearing such clothing completely. One can make many assumptions faced with a virtual ghost.

The one thing most avoid thinking about when thinking of the occupant wearing such clothing is just how Old these women are. I am of course speaking only about married women so do not misunderstand. Isnt it a fact that Muslims can marry a child of 12 years old and younger if menstrating. It is a way such Muslim men can hide the fact that they are marrying and abusing children. Hiding them from plain sight beneath a Burkah. Here in Britain they could not get away with such a crime. However, in Islamic countries it is not a crime is it. So the garments you speak about can also be used for sinister reasons.

On those matters be sure I do not find that funny in any way shape or form.

Someone here mentioned Muhammad and how he says cover up, so it is then all down to him. Isnt it a fact though Muhammad married a child of 8 years Old and was having sexual relations before she was 12 which was such a shock to her system that her hair fell out. To this day other Muslims also are marrying off to children and hiding that beneath a veil or a burkah. So in truth in todays world such an item of clothing such as a veil or burkah can be used for many sinister reasons. If you did not know about this abuse existing in this Time period then it is you who is being superficial.

Cool..So you have some superpower to look through the face veil and based on your superpowers you made the conclusion that women under the face veil are ugly..interesting

Again Muslim women are diverse..I know women from different backgrounds who wear the niqab..I know veiled sisters who are southamerican,Dutch,Swedish,Arab, pakistani,English, polish, west African, spanish,Malaysian,Ethiopian,Somali, american. So these are just about 13 or so friends in my community.
Well you can see their eyes and eyes tell a lot, also in my country it looks odd, they actually draw attention, where they believe they don't draw attention, sorry but for me the whole thing looks ugly, that's my opinion.

I should also add that, I would think the same about any women wearing the veil, not just Muslim women, there I cleared that up.

Hey don't worry about it. You didn't really call anyone ugly, you only stated your opinion :)

You know, Some of the women I know have really scary looking eyes wearing veil but when they take it off, their looks completely change.

Where I live, many indirect female relatives don't cover up their faces (most only cover their heads and some very few show their hair) to us relative men in closed places like private properties and family sections in restaurants, so we know how they look with and without those.

Please don't hold it against MuslimInBlack (and I'll be in your debt) for what she says. She's one direct example of what your opinion describes and that sometimes makes people uneasy.

Oh by the way, and by extension to what I said above, some women have so very beautiful eyes that attract me, but once they show their faces in full, I see that they are not my type and unattractive. This specific experience I got from Arabic TV shows. It shows up clearly with actors with plastic surgery done wrong.

Thanks for understanding, it might be my paranoid feelings I get because of my schizophrenia, I also don't like clowns, they scare the life out of me lol.

And you said you don't have hate and you're not angery, Starjade?

Well maybe not (giving you the benefit of the doubt), but your words suggests so with emphasis.

Clear your heart from anger and hatred. Believe me, it is not worth it.
