Do you base the reasons we wan to join a group by our religion tags?
We use tags, self-descriptions, and, if needed, conversations with the individuals.

If we use me as an example, I list my religion as Judaism and I participate in the Judaism DIR.
Inclusion in the private Judaism and Theists forums are a given.
If I request to join the Muslim or the Christian private forums, I'm going to be turned down.

That would mean I'd have to put a religious tag to my profile?

Also, what is the Rainbow and Survivor's room? And what would you put as a reason you want to join, say, the Coven given Pagan religions are so diverse?

Oh, also, are the private rooms "set aside" for people who want to have a private discussion or are they like DIRs where any one in that religion can join even though it doesnt have to be about something specific?

No. If you want to join a private forum and you are a member of said religion, just tell us when you submit the request.
But if you DO have a religious tag of, say, Methodist and you request to join the Muslim private forum, then your request is likely going to be denied.

Also, what is the Rainbow and Survivor's room?
The Rainbow room is for LGBT, and the Survivor's Room is for those who have survived a severe hardship such as physical or mental trauma, cancer, etc.

And what would you put as a reason you want to join, say, the Coven given Pagan religions are so diverse?
You would put that you're a pagan.

What is discussed is up to the members; sometimes it is about religion, sometimes about work or school, sometimes about family. It's a place for members of that group to discuss things that they don't want on the open forum for everyone to read.

I was thinking, how do I ask,

Are the private rooms "open" for anyone in that religion to start a conversation?

Or are they "closed" until a person decides to create a thread about Subject-X, they create the "rules" of who can join the conversation, and its only limited to those of that faith?

Cant figure how to phrase it

I guess I'm asking, is it like a DIR where it is "open" to any person in that faith who wants to comment? (meaning, once you join a forum, you'll see different conversations under that faith)

Or

Is it not like a DIR to where it is "closed" until someone starts a conversation in it--and it is only one conversation at a time, like a private message?

There is a whole section of forums you can't see. If you were to join a group you would see the forum for that group.

To join a private forum, you go to the "Join User Groups" tab on your Account Page. When you select the one you wish to join, there is a space to state why you wish to join that group.

The private forums are closed to anyone who doesn't belong to that group, and anyone with access to the private forum can start a thread in it.

I mean more: (take a Christian room)

The room is "closed" until a Christian decides to open it and its a private message group as in a conference call.

Or is it "open" for any Christian who decides to join and there are threads within that group he can participate in rather it being just a one room thread?

Also, where are the group Criteria? Is that the same as the DIRs?
--

EDIT Sorry, last time. Is it a group with many forums within it or is it one separate room designated for one conversation/thread?

it's just a subforum, it's not a chat room. It's a subforum that's hidden from you unless you are a member. It has threads and posts in threads just like every other subforum

The second. The private forums are just another section of the forum, and it works just like the rest. It's just that non-members can't see them.

Also, where are the group Critera? Is that the same as the DIRs?
Pretty much the same as for the DIR's.

Hey,

Does the staff contact you if you are denied or allowed in?
Not directly, and I'm not sure if the system does.
If you've been approved, then you should see the new section at the bottom of the main page.

How do you actually go into the private forum? The link in the OP brings you to a page to let you join them but I haven't been able to find a way to go into private forums I've joined.

If you've actually joined the group already, go to the Forums page and page down. The private forums you are a member of should show up near the bottom of the page.
