Joseph Sold Into Egypt

Norman

Defender of Truth
One of my favorite topics and interest is the descendants of the greatest of all Israelites, the great Prophet Joseph who was sold into Egypt. In my opinion when one understands and accepts the biblical fact, that there is another nation of Israel, that of Joseph the son of Jacob, people can begin to see the need for this second nation of Israel to have a scriptural record just like the Jews. Joseph of Egypt saved the house of Israel, all twelve tribes from perishing in the famine. He was given the priesthood birthright responsibilities. Joseph was promised a multitude of posterity through Ephraim in a blessed and Promised Land. I wonder if this is frustration to other religions or do they have a place for Joseph in there church?

What he did was of international importance, because he was made administrator of the only food supply available in the entire Middle East during a seven-year famine. Who is his latter day descendants? Jacob blessed Joseph, he gave him a double portion, or an inheritance among his brethren in Palestine and also the blessing of the land of the Americas. [Genesis 49:22–26]. Jacob also blessed the two sons of Joseph with the blessings of their father, which they inherited, and he placed Ephraim, the younger, before Manasseh, the elder, and by inspiration of the Lord conferred upon Ephraim the birthright in Israel

Why is it that this great and compassionate prophet and his posterity are seldom mentioned outside of the account given in Genesis 49? Has the Lord forgotten this mighty Israelite and left his deeds and his posterity unrewarded and unrecognized for future generations? Does it seem fair that this Holy man of the prophets and patriarchs and his posterity should be lost to the world and not be remembered in a revealed record that would be accepted by the world as another authoritative record? Yet, the world has only had the record of scripture for his half-brother, Judah (Bible). Where are these promises fulfilled? In my opinion they are not fulfilled in the Bible lands. They couldn’t be! Joseph’s inheritance was to be bigger than all the other tribes combined. Where is the “Joseph, the stick of Ephraim?” prophesied that would come forth by the great Prophet Ezekiel (37:16-17). What of Joseph’s two son’s Ephraim and Manasseh? What do other Churches have to say about this?

I have broken down Genesis 49 with what I believe and have been taught are the blessings given to Joseph by Jacob.

Geneses 49:22-26

(Vrs. 22) Joseph’s “branches [will] run over the wall” (from Canaan) refers to the scattering of his posterity throughout the earth, especially across the sea to the Americas)

(Vrs. 23-24) Joseph’s descendants would be subjected to war, but they would be blessed of the Lord and victorious in the end.

(Vrs. 25) (a) Blessings of Heaven above (Spirit Paradise) (b) Blessings of the deep (Missionary Work in spirit prison) (c) Blessings of Breast & Womb (Great fertility & Strengh)

(Vrs.26) His tribe would carry on the blessings of the Fathers (The birthright) (Joseph Fielding Smith)

Joseph’s descendants through his sons Manasseh and Ephraim would be brought to these consecrated lands. The promises were fulfilled by branches of his family that traveled “over the wall of the well,” across the seas to the land of the everlasting hills. (Genesis 49)

Notes:

(1) Deuteronomy 33:17 His glory [is like] the firstling of his bullock, and his horns [are like] the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they [are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they [are] the thousands of Manasseh.

(2) Ezekiel 37:16-17 Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and [for] all the house of Israel his companions: And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand.
