Which is better?

To follow the greatest words ever spoken or to follow the old traditions of man?

You choose for only you are responsible.

traditions of man?!?!?!

What great religious words in any religion compare to Jesus teachings?

ummmm G-d's Torah maybe?? given that like 76% of what jesus says in the gospels is just rehashing Torah it would seem that jesus thought so too
in that case...

put down the ham sandwich!!

God wishes a blood sacrifice?
God needs us to pay Him a ransom?
God angry?
God tempts us?
God spitefully punishes man?
God jealous?
God kills humans?

Absolutely, positively, not possible. Not true, no way, no how.

God does not have these petty human traits. He is a God of love for His creation and could not possibly do any of those things listed above. It is easier for a ant to swallow the sun than for any one of those things to happen.

But it is your choice what to believe.

yeah it's horrible when i religion teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves, or to do good deeds and to give charity to the poor and the needy and the orphan and the widow.
it's also horrible when a religion says that people of other backgrounds and faiths can have their own religion and it's ok, you don't have to force them to believe anything.

what kind of person would believe in a G-d like that:sarcastic

"What you dislike, do not do to your friend. That is the basis of the Torah. The rest is commentary; go and learn!" Shabbos 31

Can you disconnect the irritable angry and jealous view of God given in the Old Testament from the true God of love viewed in Jesus teachings?

Are you allowed by your religion to do such a thing and still be Jewish? What's more important?

Love thy neighbor? From Jesus, not the Old Testament.

to be a jew and believe in the docterine of christianity is not only heretical, but idolitry
What's more important it to believe in the Torah of HaShem, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Love thy neighbor? From Jesus, not the Old Testament.
wrong!
Thou shalt not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am HaShem
Leviticus 19:18

what did you think Jesus just made this stuff up???
he's a jew for crying out loud!

It's not idolatry if Jesus is the Son of God. Not all Christians believe He was God, He did not say this. He spoke well of His Father.

Christianity heretical? What proof do you have of Judaism? What proof of Chrisitanity? They are both human creations.

Let me ask you this, IF there was more information available about God and the universe, would you listen? Or would you cast it aside because everything you need to know is in the Torah?

Ah yes, Leviticus. So for you it validates your entire old book because it said this first, one time.

Does anyone say that one flower in a field of weeds is a garden? This poetic verse is also in Matthew 5:43, Matthew 19:19, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Mark 12:33, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9, Galatians 5:14. And it is only one of many other poetic and evolutionary ideas about the true God of love as explained by Jesus in the New Testament.

Which is the garden?

from a jewish perspective it goes against the Torah
to say that you have to go through someone else to get to G-d places someone before Him. That is Idolitry from a halachic standpoint.

for an observant Jew, if anything comes that says it is from G-d but contradicts the Torah, it is not G-d's word to the Jews

i don't need this one line to validate the Torah to me. Judaism's teachings of ethics and morality and the centrality of family and the belief that it takes more than a statement of faith to be a good person, it takes action, validates the Torah to me.

And it is only one of many other poetic and evolutionary ideas about the true God of love as explained by Jesus in the New Testament.

Which is the garden?

a garden that condemns all non-believers to eternal hellfire and damnation is not a garden I want to live in.

What if Jesus meaning was this: Only through the truth of which I speak can you find God.

Is not Moses considered someone who spoke the truth? If Moses was here today, could he not help me find God? I would not literally have to go 'through' him.

So when Jesus preached to no longer abide by an eye for an eye and Jesus taught us to love your enemy, to you this is going against the Torah's teachings? Even though this is improvement, evolution, correction of mistaken ideas?

The revelation has never changed, only our ability to comprehend it has. These men who wrote the Old Testament thought the earth was flat!

Keep the Torah if you wish. Practice an eye for an eye. Practice blood sacrifice. Stone sinners. Give a ransom to God. Do you still do all these things or has your faith evolved some from the ancient book?

What afterlife does Judaism provide for those committed to sin?

this only shows more your complete lack of understanding of Judaism and Halachah, you own belief in the superiority of your religion that says it's my way or the highway

before you condemn a religion you should learn about it first!

Whatever I know about Judaism tells me nothing about you as an individual. Are each identical in every way?

I wish to know your interpretation and understanding of your faith, not some writing etched into stone by someone I have never known.

(Which makes it all the more ironic that many Christians have rejected our Founder, Baha'u'llah, Whom we Baha'is see as the spiritual Return of Christ, for the exact same reason: the prophecies weren't fulfilled literally!)

Some of them were. Micah 7:12 being just one example.

Matthew 22:36-40
36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Notice the similarities?

I've had several Jews over the years tell me that Jesus is quoting Hillel here.

Jews dont beleive for the same reason many dont beleive. But yet Jews are difffrent. Throughout all history until Jesus the Messiah's freed The Jews from there Opressors. Yet Jesus did not wish to lead a Rebellion aginast Rome, he preached Peace and love of God. Jews were not looking for a Messiah to save them from their sins, they were looking for a messiah to save them from a Temporary Possesor. That is one reason they dont Beleive.

2) Many dont beleive becuase they just dont have the faith

3) Or they want to reamin in Darkness, they dont want to come to the Light(Jesus is the Light)

4)Jews will be given a Second Chance, unlike the Gentiles who recieve the Mark, 144,000 Jews wuill preach the Gospel of Jesus. Then the whole World will see Jesus commingin the sky, riding on a White Horse. Even a donkey would beleive Jesus is real then.

I always wondered this as well. How can Jesus perform all these miracles and still be denied by the Jewish people? Well, I studied this, and this is what I came up with. First of all, aparantly there were a lot of 'magical' things happening back then, and a lot of time, they were hoaxes. Snake oil salesmen. Some Greek churches used elaborate pulley systems to trick people into thinking that the statue of their 'God' was passing judgement on them, and would either accept or reject the offering. And since there was no video cameras back then, everything was by word of mouth, and we all know how reliable that is.

The other thing is Jesus was viewed as somewhat of a rebel. He was traveling with women, and this was strictly forbidden in the Jewish tradition. He also hung around with 'low lifes'. Prostitutes, thieves, and the diseased. All these things did not fit the expectations of the Jews. They were a very proud people and they would never allow a Rabbi to behave the way Jesus did. That was one of his points, that the law of man had been kept, while God's laws were ignored.

G-d forbid anyone conclude that Jews now might simply not want to become Chrsitians because for them it would involve accepting something they believe is idolatry...
