Who is the King of the U.S.A.?

Who is the King of the U.S.A.?

Oh say can you see, --- that you are an oligarchy?

I assume here that most Americans are bright enough to know that they live in an oligarchy and not a democracy.

Do you believe that redistribution of wealth from the top to the bottom of the U.S. socio economic demographic pyramid is a good idea or a bad idea?

Do you think the American oligarchy can be turned back into a real democracy where the poor are considered instead of ignored, if not abused?

Poverty is the worst form of Violence. Mahatma Gandhi

Do you think that we can persuade our owners to stop their violence against the poor?

Which of our oligarchs would you say is the King of the U.S.A.

Should the U.S. government find its balls and ask its King to stop abusing the poor?

That isn't what a King is.

Poor people get to vote, and their vote counts as much as anyone else's, so it is certainly a representative Democracy. Unless you can provide objective proof that this statement is false, your assessment is wrong. And, the mere fact that 1% of the population has most of the wealth does not in any way show our government to be an oligarchy. This would be a "stretching of the term" to fit your claim.

Voter ID laws are certainly making voting more difficult for the poor.

There's no king of the US as of yet. What we have is an oligarchy or a plutocracy, but not yet a monarchy. Some kind of monarchy, tyranny, dictatorship, or whatever is presumably the next step, not the current one.

But, it certainly isn't disenfranchising anyone. So, it would not provide any evidence for the ridiculous claim that the United States is an Oligarchy.

Hillary Clinton has been stealing lines from Carly Fiorina. Seriously. She hasn't even officially announced yet, and Hillary is already running out of ideas. But the phony news treats this plagarism as if she is the mind behind it.

We do have an elitist element with a lot of power in America. It is the phony liberal news.

America didn't like the way the King was handling taxes. Yes, Americans will at a certain point take their guns out regarding taxes. We never actually hated the King, just despised him off and on in a big way. But don't think Americans hate England, there will always be an England and we love her like a mother.

But back to taxes and spending, yes we have a problem. It is called obese government, unaccountable obese and self-serving and corrupt and government that is ever more central, bureaucratic, unelected agencies, unelected judges writing laws, our Republic (we are not a democracy) is being turned into an agency which we have no say as to who are the agents of power in the agency and they just take money but we are unworthy to be sent the audit on what they actually spend it on. They are liars.

Meanwhile Obama and his wife have spent tens of millions in tax dollars to vacation, and they still have two more years to go, according to an accounting of their trips.

Then I check the news this morning to read V.P. Biden wants to give $1 billion dollars to Guatemala. Obama has doubled the entire debt of the U.S. to where we may never be able to pay it back and be like a hopeless credit card junkie deep into debt and going deeper who only makes the minimum payment, and this old dwit says "Let's give one billion dollars" like he's that old Uncle with the big pockets full of five notes handing them out to his cute inlaw and relation's kids so that they will all love him. Yeah, they will love him, but not me who is expected to fork up the pocket change.

Is this a soap opera?

Actually the "poor" ARE in trouble. They are going to be expected to be the slaves of these despots, like we see in Zimbabwe.

But it is disenfranchising people. Read the news.
Moreover, what candidates do stand for office aren't chosen by the people they'll purportedly be representing, and those who are elected ignore the interests and will of the people in favor of the interests of the 1%.
BBC News - Study: US is an oligarchy, not a democracy

There is no king. It's a coalition government of bankers and corporate moguls, ruling through their elected puppets.

All of this is merely speculation and exageration, including your cited article. And, stretching the term "disenfranchise" does not prove your point. Here is what the term means:
"To deprive (someone) of the right to vote."
While it could be rationaly argued that their ability to vote has been hindered, it cannot rationally be said that their "right" to vote has been taken away. This, of course, could only be done with a constitutional amendment or armed guards disaallowing entrance to polling stations. While I disagree with voter ID laws because they do "hinder" mainly the elderly's ability to vote, they certainly do not take away anyone's "right" to vote. Having a "right to vote" in no way requires voting to be "easy."

Minorities taken off the registration lists without their knowledge, polling places moved/eliminated, ballots disappearing, voting machines hacked -- every election there's a flurry of underhanded disenfranchisement.

Those are all illegal activities. Unless the aforementioned activities are sanctioned by the Government, no one is having their right to vote taken away. No matter how hard it is to vote, a constitutional amendment would be necessary to take away someone's RIGHT to vote. Much much more would be necessary to change our form of Government to an Oligarchy.

One could say that, because of these things, the US is, IN EFFECT, OPERATING LIKE an Oligarchy. But, claiming that the US Government IS an Oligarchy is way off.

Even to say it's operating like an oligarchy is a stretch. A simple truth is that politicians do things which are blamed on the oligarchy, but the voters elect & re-elect them for doing these things. We voters complain about the results of their voting, but they got what they voted for.

Great point, Revoltingest!! Exactly correct.

American democracy is pretty jokish. I don't even bother voting, especially on national issues, because the system is, in fact, rigged in so many ways, that a real candidate will never make it through again.

Even if I did vote, it would almost always be third party anyways. But my overall goal is to leave America regardless what trashy candidates get coughed up next election cycle.

But we'd vote for opposite spectrum losers, so they'd cancel each other out.
