Songs with Outstanding Vocals

One of the great vocalists is Jimmy Durante. His unique vocal sound is unmistakable to Americana. Here is one of his grestest, the all time favorite FROSTY THE SNOWMAN.

Chris Cornell's hits on the highs and the lows is perfect in this song. Has a smooth country introduction but when he reaches his belting highs it's spine tingling.

Tom Waits singing a Christmas Carol and a Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis. His voice in telling a touching and sad story of regret is absolutely perfect. Beautiful and commonly tragic.

The Norwegian Kurt Nilsen serving up true country sound to make, hopefully in my opinion, all the latter Garth Brook wannabes such as that garbage Toby Keith shut the **** up already.

Sorry. I miss the true country sound that is closer to folk than the "a bit of country, a bit of rock and roll, and a bit of horse**** misplaced true blue patriotism".....there I go again. Seriously. **** Toby Keith. Did I just say that. Yes I did.

And here is the Norwegian yet again absolutely laying claim to this song....

Yes, I despise all pretenses to country music and Southern folk over the last three decades.

That's why I find myself listening to the Punch Brothers. This Norwegian, wonderful voice has right up and owned the Southern and Western Country folk. Brilliant.

edit: Again....give me true folk and country! Devil horns to that as I put in a Tool CD to make me calm.

Well, I'm listening to Jonny Craig and he's one of my favorite singers ever. He's fantastic.
This is a sweet song:

Opening with God is hard to top.
Amy Lee is too easy to top (I absolutely hate, loathe, detest, and despise the remake of Broken with her). But I do think the Seether song Fine Again has some really good lyrics, even if I don't hear the pain and agony that is suitable for that song.
Depeche Mode's Enjoy The Silence (though I'd prefer the Lacuna Coil cover) is outstanding in that it sums up just about any relation I have, especially romantic.
Megadeth's Peace Sells... is fantastic. Wonderful! As is the song Holy Wars...The Punishment Due, which holds so very true today as it did 20 years ago.
Just about anything and everything Tool, A Perfect Circle, and Puscifer is more than worthy of mention.
Cradle of Filth has some very poetic, very emotional, and very moving lyrics. Dani Filth is probably my favorite singer, with his huge range of vocal abilities, as well as my favorite lyricist for combining so much of classic culture and horror into a very poetic form that almost seems like Edgar Allen Poe accompanied to metal music.
Ministry does some phenomenal work with political lyrics, with songs such as Rio Grande Blood (with sound clips edited to make Bush Jr. say "I'm an *******") or No W. "Ask me why you're feeling screwed and I'll give you the answer. There's a Colon, Dick, and Bush just a hammerin' away" is easily the greatest anti-Bush administration (and not just anti-Bush) lines ever sang.
Till Lindemann of Rammstein is great just because they lyrics are so ****ed up. Actually, they tend to be way beyond ****ed up.
And I love Lacuna Coil because Christina Scabbia's voice is so beautiful. My life would be incomplete without hearing her voice, which easily is infinitely more seductive and attractive than any Siren the Greeks could envision.

I don't feel so lonely know. **** Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, and every other 90s "Country" star that made country indistinguishable from contemporary pop-rock. And especially that achy-breaky douche.

I think Amy Lee sounds heavenly in this one:

I prefer:

Can't stand Shaun Morgan. He even looks gross. So glad she dumped him. (I got banned from the official Evanescence forum about a decade ago for insulting Shaun Morgan. Lmao.)

Also, Evanescence's performance at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert was one of the best I've seen:

hissss.....we cannot be friends anymore.
Get away from me you heathen!!
That also makes me feel old because, about a decade ago, I remember everyone arguing over who had the better brake up song. IMO, Fake It wins by no contest.

Lol. :D Sorry, I'm a huge Amy Lee fan. :p

I feel old because, when I saw Evanescence live, Ben Moody was still in the band. :D

The Animals, House of the Rising Sun, although not the original version (it actually comes from the Old World), in many ways it reminds me of where I live, and how it sucks people in and people get stuck here, and how the world view is so limited that it does ruin many people who could have really made something of themselves had they been just about anywhere else in this country. And since there is such a bad meth problem here, it really tends to ruin people.

AFI, before Davey Havok turned into a huge *******, broke my heart and started sucking. This band used to be my life and my salvation - no joke, they saved me from suicide many times. They helped me through so much darkness "back in the day". I know he blew out his voice awhile back ago and had surgery, so he isn't able to sing like this anymore.

Michael "Jag" Jagmin from A Skylit Drive is one of my favorite singers, too. Earlier in his career, he was a countertenor and could hit solid high notes like no one's business and people often thought it was a girl singing before they learned who it was (lol), but his style has changed on the band's last couple of albums. Some say that he's been smoking and drinking and it's messing up his voice. But, anyway...

(He hits a F♯5 at about 2:48-9 here.)

This is how he sounds now:

Still fantastic, but noticeably lower. Not a countertenor anymore.
