new evidence for evolution of the eye

painted wolf

a study was recently published on the evolution of the eye showing that the rods and cones in vertibrate eyes has a direct ancestor in the parts of the brain that run the eyes of invertibrates. The article was published in Science but I found a smaller news article on this here: http://www.embl.org/aboutus/news/press/2004/press28oct04.html
and another in Nature here: http://www.nature.com/news/2004/041025/full/041025-18.html

looks like Creationism lost another argument.

You think so? Well, I have a reply to that:

Allah created the worm like that. He can't create things the way He wants? That's what you're saying?

RearingArabian,

It is perfectly fine to believe that that is simply the process Allah chose to use to create things--that is how one can sucessfully integrate religious beliefs with obvious scientific truths. no one is trying to disprove God or Allah here--merely disprove creationism.

Painted Wolf,

Cha-ching! These are great sites!

Rearing Arabian- yes, I think Allah/creator/god whatever made them that way. I also think that evolution is the best way for Allah/creator/god whatever to do it. ;)
Evolution does not disprove Allah/creator/god whatever for me, it shows how magnificent the whole of creation is. :)

Ceridwen- thanks I thought it would be appeciated by some here! :jiggy:

*sighs* It's the unbeatable arguement of creationism here...yeah, well God just made it look that way! But hey, whatever floats your boat...it's just, if that's going to be the arguement used, there's really no point in debating.

Painted Wolf is not claiming Allah did not create the eye. She's giving us a living example which helps us understand the mechanism Allah used in creating the eye.
How? and Who? are two different things.

I'll tell you that it's rather unlikely that Allah, or any other fairy created anything since there is no objective evidence of the existence of a pixie by the name of Allah (or any other name for that matter).

You're preaching to the choir, my friend.

You have to meet people at their own level, and proceed gently from there.
