Is Sunday the 7th day of the week or the first day of the week?

But Sunday is not the sabbath.SOGFPP said:I would call Sunday the sabbath.... the first day of the week.
I thought the old testament that the jews gave to the gentiles practice the sabbath on friday at night down to sat.SOGFPP said:It is to Catholics... and I would say Christians in general (with a few exeptions).
Constantine did not such thing.... nor did his sons.... but that's for another thread!Sunday was decided on when Constatine made it the official religion of Rome.
Monday always feels like the first day of the week for me too. Even on the calander though, Sunday is the first day. Hm....I never heard that it was because Jesus was supposed to have risen then before, but I stopped going to church a while ago.standing_on_one_foot said:Well, I go by Monday being the first day of the week during my everyday life (it being the day I have to go back to school). But for Jewish related stuff, Sunday's the first (in Hebrew, that's what the word for Sunday literally is, "first day" or "day one").
I was told once that the Sabbath was on Sunday for Christians because that's when Jesus was supposed to have risen, but I've really no clue how accurate that it. Anyone know?
If God rested on the seventh day and that nis the sabbath, then Sunday is the first daySOGFPP said:I would call Sunday the sabbath.... the first day of the week.
I guess you missed my earlier post:If God rested on the seventh day and that nis the sabbath, then Sunday is the first day
........ and as I understand the way a calendar is usually read, Sunday begins the week..... that's all I meant.SOGFPP said:But passages of Scripture such as Acts 20:7, 1 Corinthians 16:2, Colossians 2:1617, and Revelation 1:10 indicate that, even during New Testament times, the Sabbath is no longer binding and that Christians are to worship on the Lords DaySundayinstead.
