Purple and Scarlet

Is anyone aware of any connection to the two differing colors of the robe that was placed on Jesus, one scarlet and one purple (John 19:2/Mark 15:20 and Matthew 27:28, and that relationship with the two colors that Babylon is clothed with, being purple and scarlet (Revelation 17:4)?

Or do these colors have the relationship with the colors of the tabernacle?

It is my understanding that the color purple is often associated with royalty.
We can see examples of this in Acts 16:14, Esther 8:15, Judges 8:26 and Daniel 5:7 & 16.
But purple is also associated with riches and finery. See Luke 16:19.
However, in the Bible purple also speaks of the corruption and corrupting influence of riches.
We can see examples of this in Rev 17:4, Revelation 18:16.

But in Mark 15:17&20 Jesus was clothed in purple, being mocked for His claim to be the promised Messiah and heir to the throne of David

It is my understanding that the Book of Revelation was an excoriation written in coded language against the Roman Empire for their brutal persecution of Christianity. Modern analysis has, more or less, confirmed that Number of the Beast represents Nero Caesar, as both its Greek 616 form and its Hebrew 666 form match the spelling of his name in the respective languages. As I understand, purple and scarlet were the imperial colors of the Roman Empire, but I'm not as sure about that as I am about the Number of the Beast.

I have heard that before concerning Nero. Except that dates the book to a date before his reign, otherwise he wasn't having a vision, but merely a flashback.

I would accredit this discrepancy to coded language disguised to appear as religious ravings. I believe this coded language was necessary to protect both the message and its carriers from Roman fires.

Purple and scarlet in Revelation is an obvious reference to the Caesars of Rome, as is the harlot sitting on 'seven hills', and so forth. Perhaps the gospel author has Jesus clothed in purple and scarlet as a way of saying Jesus should replace Caesar? The gospels have this theme quite a bit (rivalry against Caesar). I think that may be where the virgin birth stemmed from.

Is it possible that John may of been aware of any written gospel at that time?

That is understood, but Jesus wasn't killed in Rome.
Meant to finish that thought but as I wiped spagetti sauce off the fingerpad it sent...

I just mean that all of the prophecy doesn't fit accordingly for it to be concerned of the Kaisers.
