Christian Soldier

as for previous posters who say military people can't be Christian, sorry I completely disagree

In the Beatitudes, Jesus tells us "blessed are the peacemakers" (Matt. 5:9). Elsewhere in the Sermon on the Mount he tells us "if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also" (Matt. 5:39). From such verses some have concluded that Christianity is a pacifist religion and that violence is never permitted.

But the same Jesus elsewhere acknowledges the legitimate use of force, telling the apostles, "let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one" (Luke 22:36). How are these passages to be reconciled?

In broad terms, Christians must not love violence. They must promote peace whenever possible and be slow to resort to the use of arms. But they must not be afraid to do so when it is called for. Evil must not be allowed to remain unchecked.

6:10
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

6:11
Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

this part of ephesians is about trying to live a Christian life in a secular world, need to put on the "armor of GOD" etc

I believe that killing and murdering are two differant things. Murder is where you ruthlessly take the life of another for no reason. Like breaking into someone's house and shooting them. Killing is differant. There was a reason God said "Thou shalt not murder".

But isn't this "killing" for a reason just as bad? Who cares what the motive behing it is? It's still ending a life.

i would say that its more of standing up for what is right, in rev. john talked about the war in heaven, so we all must be solders in gods army and while where here on earth we stand for the truth and justice, allowing people to make there own chose thought he fall of Adam and Eve knowing what is good and evil, a christen solder must be like a peace core... pronouncing all that is just and right in the eyes of god...

YEAH, that's what I thought it said as well, I also believe that Jesus said to love your enemies. But apparently there is some exceptions to those rules that I was not aware of.

Could someone please explain the concept behind a Christian Soldier, it seems like a contradiction in terms to me.
How can anyone who believes in the moral teachings of Christ kill another man?

Your religion is full of corruption and contradiction my friends, nothing more than a lie.

Roman Catholics have a hierarchy, but isn't everyone equal in the eyes of your god?

Guess not.

The plagues that ravaged Egypt, if your god is real, then he's a prick.

You see religion is nothing more than a scare tactic to force people to lead moral lives, where would we be without fear?

In anarchy.

Fear keeps people from doing wrong deeds. (prison, torture, execution, hell)

But the insane, and cold hearted who do this... they have nothing left to fear.

What of Armagedon?

In the end you can run, screaming to your non-existant god/s, then, you will think "does it really matter?"

No

You see, I am trying to open your eyes, my friends

I agree with the one who said the term "Christian soldier" reminds one of the song "onward Christian soldiers". In that sense, Christians are like soldiers in the fight against evil. Primarily, we are to wage war against our human nature and temptations to sin. Paul told Timothy he must endure hardship like a good soldier.

But if you are referring to Christians waging actual war, we are not to go to war in this life. Our warfare is spiritual, not physical.
