a question

im asking this here because i do not wish to debate, although it was a debate that brought me to want to ask this

i was in college the other day, and i got into a debate with a friend over christianity, and she thinks that the catholic church is wrong for being organised how it is.

i disagreed with her, and said it was down to your interpritation, but i was wondering, what scriptural basis does the catholic church have for the way it is organised?

thanks in advance
mike.

Matthew 16:16-19.

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." 17 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal [this] to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades shall not overpower it. 19 "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."

Its a good question Mike, but your friend seems a bit uneducated about the history of Christianity.... the Christian faith and the Church came BEFORE the Bible, not the other way around.
