what day did Jesus rise from the tomb

If mary went to the tomb on the dawn of the first day of the week and Jesus had already rose then did he acually rise on sunday or saturday?
couldn't it be possible that Jesus rose on modern day saturday rather than on modern day sunday even though it was technically the first day because the next day (back then) started when the sun went down.
If Jesus rose sometime between sundown saturday and sunrise sunday then it would be the first day of the week.
My church teaches that he died on wednsday and rose on the sabbath but
I personally haven't come to a complete conclusion on this after sudying it.
I have studyied both points of view and still am not sure
what do you guys think about this?

First off, remember that Jesus prophesied that he'd be in the belly of the Earth 3 days and 3 nights (the sign of Jonah). With that in mind, the timeline works goes like this-

-Christ dies sometime in the late afternoon on the day before the Sabbath and is buried less than an hour before sundown. (Friday)- Day 1

-Night 1 passes (Fri night)
-Day 2 passes (Sat 1 day)
-Night 2 passes (Sat 1 night)
-Day 3 passes (Sat 2 day)
-Night 3 passes (Sat 2 night)
-Christ rises at dawn of Sunday morning
-Women come a little later to find tomb empty

Now I'm sure you're finding my timeline here a little funny. Why? Because I have 2 Saturdays. Why do I have 2? Because the weekend of Christ's burial wasn't any ordinary weekend. It was the Passover weekend, and on the Jewish calendar, the Passover weekend had 2 sabbath days (3 in a year of jubilee). Google it if you don't believe me.

So basically, it was on Sunday morning that the Lord was resurrected.

I believe all that really matters is that he died for me and rose. Details are great, but that's all I need to know.

I have done a complete study on this, and have complete confidence, and no doubts, that Jesus Christ died on the cross, at 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, and rose sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm, on Saturday, and then appeared to Mary Sunday morning.

Here is the Timeline:

Sunday- Jesus said unto his disciples, "Ye know that after two days is the feast of the Passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Matthew 26: 2

Monday- "There came a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, to what purpose is this waste ? For this ointment might haave been sold for much, and given to the poor. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman ? for she hath wrought a good work upon me. For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always. For inthat she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial". -Matthew 26: 7-12

Tuesday- "Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover ? -Matthew 26: 17. And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them, and they made ready the passover". -Matthew 26: 19

Passover is from Tuesday 6:00 pm to Wednesday 6:00 pm. And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the Lord. -Numbers 28: 16

Tuesday 6:00 pm- "Now when the even (6:00 pm) was come, he sat down with the twelve and they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me....-Matthew 26: 20-25 They eat the passover meal, and break bread and drink the wine for the Last Supper and Jesus says that Peter will deny him three times before the cock crows" - Matthew 26: 26-35

Tuesday evening after the Last Supper- Jesus Christsand his disciples go to the Garden of Gethsemene and Jesus prays three times. -Matthew 26: 36-44

Tuesday probably around midnight- "Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me. And while he yet spake , lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people...."Jesus Christ is betrayed and led away captive. -Matthew 26: 45-57

Wednesday probably after midnight to 6:00 am- Caiaphus and the other chief priests and elders work Jesus over pretty good. He is spit upon and smitten. Peter denies Christ two times. -Matthew 26: 58-72

Wednesday probably around 6:00 am- "And after a while came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art one of then, for thy speech bewayeth thee. Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man, and immediately the cock crew". -Matthew 26:73-74

Wednesday 6:00 am, or early morning- "When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. Judas hangs himself, Pilot works Jesus over he then asks if the Jews want Barabbas or Jesus released".

Wednesday before 9:00 am- "The Jews cry for Jesus to be crucified and Pilot has him scourged and sent to be crucified. Jesus is given a scarlet robe, crown of thorns, and a reed in his right hand. He is then mocked and spit upon. They take the reed from his hand and smite him on the head. They take his robe off and he is led away to be crucified".
-Matthew 27: 1-31

Wednesday 9:00 am- "And it was the third hour (you must add three hours from 6:00a), and they crucified him".
-Mark 15: 25

Wednesday 12:00pm-3:00pm- "Now from the sixth hour (you add 6 hours from 6:00a) there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. (you add 9 hours from 6:00a) About the ninth hour (again you add 9 hours from 6:00a) Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying Eli Eli, Lam sabachthani ? that is to say, My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me? Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost". -Matthew 27: 45-46, 50

Wednesday 3:00 pm- "Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God". -Matthew 27: 54

Wednesday 6:00 pm-
"When the even (6:00 pm) was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple. He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed".
-Matthew 27: 57-60

The day after the passover, from Wednesday 6:00 pm to Thursday 6:00 pm, was the first day of the seven day feast of unleavened bread, which was an holy convocation, or sabbath day. In the first day shall be an holy convocation, ye shall do no manner of servile work therein. -Numbers 28: 18

Thursday- "Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation (passover), the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, Saying Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, "After three days I will rise again". Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his dischiples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch". -Matthew 27: 62-66

Friday-

Saturday (weekly sabbath)- Christ was resurrected after 3:00 pm but no later than 6:00 pm. The prophecy was than fullfilled which said that he would "rise the thrid day".

Sunday towards dawn- "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sephulchre. And, behold there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, an sat upon it. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead. And as they went to tell his disciples, and behold Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him". -Matthew 28: 1,2,5-9

Oh, Crikey! I had to recite repeatedly, "On the Third Day He rose again from the Dead. . . ." and I tacitly accepted that it was Sunday because that was Easter wasn't it and that's what hundred of thousands, if not millions of people recited on a weekly, if not a daily, basis.

Now, that I've been obliged to think about it, why shouldn't it have been a Monday?

Christ is crucified on Friday. Saturday Day One; Sunday Day Two; Monday Day Three.

Sooooo, why don't we celebrate Easter Monday?

Now, this idiotic quibbling!!! You see what it leads to?

As do I.

I think it's too easy to hack the details to pieces.

The bottom line...He was resurrected.
