Premarital sex and Christianity

I wasn't saying that anyone should follow that law. I was saying that some people do follow that law, including Christians. :)
That wasn't a law.

At that time thousands of years ago slavery was the norm. The Torah did not condone it.

It tried to make it as civil and as humane as possible until society evolved.

For example, if you had one pillow, you had to give it to the slave.

Societies were much different at that time.

You are practically talking about love as if it was a sex deal between two great friends.

You're the one obsessing over sex. You're the one advocating a unrestrained attitude concerning sexual matters with teens, you're the one who went so far as to declare that you'd kill yourself over the sexual status of your daughter! Because apparently, unless you have frequent sex before the age of twenty-five life just isn't worth living.

Sex isn't just harmless fun without consequence.

No. Love is intrigue, Infatuation at first sight, torture, passion, mystery. Love is Romantic Love

Are you even trying to be coherent?

I was just trying to say that sex is not a mechanical act comparable to eating or sleeping.
Sex is something spiritual and it is related to beauty. Given that the world id full of gorgeous people, there is nothing wrong with meeting them and then, after falling in love with them, sleeping with them

Indeed. Thanks for adding to my evidence against intelligent design!

Design takes many forms.. We aren't able to determine which designs are more intelligent than the next.

Your idea of intelligent design exists in you, for example. Maybe it even exists somewhere else in reality.

Well, Law or not, it is written in the Tanach and people do read it and follow it. :)

I think I remember reading in the bible that if a man sleeps with a woman they are considered married in hte eyes of god. Cant remember where though

Terrible with Titles
Well, maybe because I have a gynocentric vision of life. And I think that female pleasure is more intense than the male one.
So I guess that's the reason why female virginity bothers me.

So... because a female orgasm is more intense than a male orgasm, it's a problem for a woman to be a virgin?

I wouldn't be surprised.. In Genesis, marriage involves being considered as one flesh-- which obviously also points to childbirth, and the equal contribution of genetic information.

That's true.

We are actually agreeing on stuff. This is weird.

Not that I recall.

Of course you're right. But I looked up a verse and realize why I made the mistake. This is what it says.

Exodus 22:16 Suppose a young woman has never been married and isn't engaged. If a man talks her into having sex, he must pay the bride price and marry her.

As you acknowleded that's a different scenerio.

Not “are” married, but must marry, when rape is involved.
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives. (Deuteronomy 22:28-29)

Not only rape, but fornication (even lust) as well.

Exodus 22:15,16
And if a man entice a virgin that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely pay a dowry for her to be his wife. If her father utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the dowry of virgins.
To me, that does signify the great importance, and connection God places between sex and marriage. Recall Jesus' words as well:

Matthew 5:27,28
Ye heard that it was said to the ancients: Thou shalt not commit adultery; but I -- I say to you, that every one who is looking on a woman to desire her, did already commit adultery with her in his heart.
