I give up on religion.

It's too frustrating and it's not really doing anything for me. My life doesn't really change one way or the other. I don't "feel" any gods or even practice anything spiritual, anyway. My life is mostly crap and I live in a dump in a neighborhood I hate. I have zero social life and really only get out to go to a movie sometimes or to doctor's appointments. Otherwise, I pretty much never leave my apartment or interact with others, except for my mom. So why should I even bother with religion at all? It hasn't helped me. It has never really helped me. I have been Catholic, Satanist, Luciferian, Pagan, pantheist, etc. The most I've gotten from it is "nice" feelings. I feel no hope, comfort or anything. I like some of the symbolism but that's about all it's been for me in a long time. My spiritual life is dead.

Friend Frankenstein,

I give up on religion.

That's the best sentence that have heard on RF!
Religion carries nothing. Only Living does. Living ordinarily. BEing no one special, simply BEing. BEing simply lives. Eats when hungry, sleeps when sleepy. In fact he does 'Nothing'; nothing includes all mind activities. That is important while doing nothing, keeping watch on the thoughts coming and going like clouds in the sky. They will come and go as have all religions come and gone. Let Go of all things/religions as only 'you' are.
Give your 'self' a chance and see IT grow. Once your grasp it, you start to live for the first time.

I'm not giving up on it because I want to.

There's nothing wrong with giving up on religion, I did that a long time ago, not that I was ever very religious to begin with. If you feel that you are in a rut then all I can say is that it is ultimately up to you to try new things, find new interests. I don't know what else to tell you, I am not very good at advising people as to what to do.

I personally think giving up religion is one of the most important things anyone can ever do.

My father told me something interesting, And I think I'll share it with you.

I asked him what Jeremiah 29:13 meant -
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

I didn't understand, Why did many search for God and not find Him?
And my dad said, They didn't search with all their heart. They weren't willing to sacrifice their will, their desires, their hopes, their dreams, for God. And that is what He meant when He said 'With all your heart'. He meant, Abandon yourself.

Anyway, Whether that helps or not, I thought I'd share it.

I've found isolation to be very unhealthy and able to warp your perspective. Try to get out there, It'll help. Hope you find your path :)

Well, you're certainly liked well enough on RF, Frank. Although I doubt you know just how many people do like you. But I hear good comments about you from others.

Me too. Find your own way towards God, you don't need a religion to tell you where to go. Move towards God and you will find that God was moving towards you in the first place.
