I'm so surprised to hear people describing it as 'dry'! I mean, obviously I suppose it depends on what one's interests are and what one enjoys in a service, but I've personally never found a service at a UU church to be dry. The one that I attend has a great mix of songs and topics, and the sermons always lead to several good laughs (our rev.s are awesome at making good points and being entertaining at the same time). Compared to Catholic mass and Presbyterian service, I've always found UU service to be a highlight of my Sunday (even when it's gameday!).

Well, you're lucky--your church is one of the best (and largest) in the denomination. Given the temperatures we're experiencing in the rest of the country, there are a lot of UUs who'd be glad to come to a San Diego service even if it were dry;) I love your outdoor patio.

Smaller churches often don't have the resources to have great music and preaching every week :sorry1:, so sometimes people have that impression when they only go once or twice.

I was so confused for a moment until I realized that I have my location as San Diego. xD That's where my official residence is, but I'm away at college right now, so I'm actually attending another UU church in a different state. Believe me, I hear you on the weather thing!

But you definitely make an excellent point; smaller churches don't have the same resources, and even though the one I go to is nowhere near the size of the San Diego one, it probably is still considered on the large side.
