just a little rant I wrote about this whole silly debate

Didn't the Bible say that the universe had a beginning before it was backed up by evidence?

Not necessarily. It was not a scientific claim. And if the bible only encompassed a vague claim that the universe "came into being" (which we do not know for certain) then it would have very little problems. However it goes on to claim several more things.

I do not think the opening post ever said we should discard the biblical literature.
Quite right I simply stated that the said book was a collection of myths that helped explain to a tribe of bronze age peoples the world around them and how it was created. I never implied that I do not believe that there is a creator, I just think some creationists make Christians on the whole look backwards and ignorant. Their arguments are simplistic and flawed. Am I the only one who can take science and god and make them work together? Have I read the definition of omnipotence wrong? Or better yet should I think my god is too small to make such a wondrous and beautiful universe that I call home?

"Relative" strikes me as a pretty big word for blind mice to be using. Could you define in what sense you are using the term?

Yet not all interpretations of the same evidence are equally probable. One particular example I remember from my logic class in college: If you went outside and found the streets to be wet, would you assume that it had rained recently or that a giant dog came by and took a whiz?

No your not fortunately.

DR Ken Miller a Christian proved we are related to the great apes.

"The phases through which chromosomes replicate, divide, shuffle, and recombine are imperfect, as DNA is subject to random mutations. Mutations do not always produce harmful outcomes. In fact, many mutations are thought to be neutral, and some even give rise to beneficial traits. To corroborate Darwin's theory, scientists would need to find a valid explanation for why a chromosome pair is missing in humans that is present in apes"

Christians talking after the Ken Ham and Bill Nye debate about it all. I have to say I personally think Ken Ham is one of the most misinformed uneducated people on the planet. Why? Hmmmm

They are debating themselves here.

Creation Science: 'Old Earth' vs. 'Young Earth'

The VERY dishonest ICR believes the bible is a science book and they are behind the ID movement and got their butts handed to them in Dover.

I should still get rid of it because according to the OP, books have been edited "to suit their own personal and politcal views and ideas."

Are you talking about the garbage science books written by the ICR?

Its a known fact the Bible was created and edited for "politcal views and ideas"

Its a known fact by Bible scholar's some of the same stories, the flood for example has two different versions as well.

Darwin's studies on origins in the 1800's has now been back up by every science discipline known to humans with new discoveries. That is impressive on its own merits.

But yes, don't read and throw out YOUR books. I say biblioclasm em like they used to do.

Does that include this statement? Are you asserting as true the idea that nothing can be asserted as true?
