Do you feel you have a purpose?

seems like everything humans have ever done is either directly passing on genes or contributing to the passing on of genes. that must be the general purpose.

While that is indeed a function of our nature moulded by natural selection, that does not mean that it is invalid to choose a different purpose.

If so - What is it?
If not - does it matter?

I believe God created our first parents with the loving purpose to enjoy life on an earth full of their happy descendants. (Genesis 1:28) Although our first parents rebelled against God, bringing suffering and death to their descendants, God's purpose will be fulfilled to have righteous people live forever on earth. As Romans 8:20,21 explains: "For the creation was subjected to futility, not by its own will, but through the one who subjected it, on the basis of hope*that the creation itself will also be set free from enslavement to corruption and have the glorious freedom of the children of God." How this will all come about is outside the scope of your question. But, I believe that happen it will. "With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore." (Revelation 21:3,4) Our purpose in being here is to know and serve our grand Creator forever. (1 John 2:17)

I am still trying to figure out how to live before I die. Maybe I will be like Kierkegaard's prisoner and only discover it at the last hour.

Purpose as in a reason for why i'm here or something that i'm supposed to do independent of my thoughts on it, then i don't know. Seems there's none, but may be the survival and passing on the genes aspects would count. Though the latter is really not at all important to me. Survival is important and enthralling, but not particularly fulfilling.

Purpose as in something that i want to do with my life, such as goals, sure. I want a bunch of things, and they all revolve around my own happiness/welfare, though in many regards by extension they would also cause happiness to others, since that's just how my perceived happiness manifests itself. It's connected to people in general.
