Would the world benefit or not if it were all to follow the same religion?

It is the goal or future vision of some religions that the world will or should all follow the one religion and its rules/beliefs (in particular Christianity). It seems the impression of many who hold this belief/beliefs is that if the world were to follow the same religious path, it would herald in peace and 'heaven on earth'.

I'm wondering what RFers think would be the case in this scenario?

Unless, of course, there is only one human left on the planet.

So it is painfully clear that that thy Lord's will is that there is not to be one world wide religion.

Seems to me you are merely splitting hairs....

If everyone everwhere shared a single religion, there would still be infinitesimal differences.
But all would expect complete uniformity, so fighting over these would be the most vicious
the world has ever seen.

How would the world benefit if everyone was forced to wear the same size pants? Some folks would have pants too loose for them. Some folks would have pants too tight for them. Some folks would have pants too long for them. Some folks would have pants too short for them. How would the world benefit if that was the case?

So, how would the world benefit if everyone had the same religion? All that would mean in practice is that many people were poorly served by their religion. Many people would go without having their spiritual needs met.

If you want an example of a society that doesn't recognize nor cherish the differences between people, just look to North Korea. Everyone is supposed to be the same in North Korea.

Would people benefit if everyone thought and behave uniformly? Without difference of opinion, without distinct and unique personalities or individual thought? Yeah, we might get peace, but at what price?
