Solipsism at a Whole New Level

InformedIgnorance

Do you 'know' or believe?
I thought extreme Solipsism would already incorporate Anatta - at least that is how I viewed it; that by underscoring the incapacity to be sure about the existence of anything other than the self that one continued to strip away all else. In doing so it seems only natural that one would question what is it which is philosophising and in so doing, minimialise the scope of reference yet further - discarding those layers such as identity which have the potential to be viewed as partially distinct from the philosopher; in this way to suppress the super ego, then whittle away at the ego and even parts of the id, until such time as only that which is required to perceive that one is considering the question remains.

Perhaps someone might correct me, but I had thought it was a rather simple approach to elimination of self for meditation (without needing to know all that breathing stuff and so forth).

It holds true that it is a contradiction, but what I was defining Solipsism in a wrong way. Not the belief of self and only self, instead I was referring to the belief that nobody truly exists.

Wouldn't it make sense that the next step of Solipsism is No-Self?

I forgot to explain why in my last post:

In the case that there is not soul, I've found that it is a popular conclusion that what makes us who we are is our ego.

Ego cannot exist if there are no observers, right? Ego is built by how each individual person is viewed by other people.

Therefore, if nobody else exists, there is no ego created (other than the one you hold for yourself, but that is less an ego and more of a self-awareness.

nothing exists?

In solipsism, what can exist? Nobody to recognize your ego, having only a simulated body to house your consciousness, it all ends up to a bunch of thoughts encircled in simply void.

Therefore wouldn't it be logical to conclude these thoughts (if no reality exists) as being void itself?

If you redefined solipsism to mean attana, then there really isn't much of a blend going on at all.

The ego you hold for yourself is the only one that should matter, egotistically speaking. :) It's composed of thoughts about yourself.

I don't understand ego created by others, but that is a fascinating thought.

In solipsism, a "you" exists, a subject, the thinker of thought. The image of no thinkers, just thoughts, in a void is a significant one. Let me ask, how do you relate all the "things" that make up the world, that are known (hence thought) about?
