The "Path to Saintliness", Purification,the Supreme Being is Pure Love

God is love

Hindu believes there is a Supreme being and God is pure love.
I agree with this. I believe there is a Supreme being too and that God is pure love that is why I choose the username "God is Love".

The earth itself and the creatures on it denote there is a Supreme creator.
"...The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God, yea, even the earth and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and it's motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that there is a Supreme creator." Alma 30:44 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}.

God is Love
"And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him." John 4:16

Hindu believes in freedom to believe and worship in a variety of ways. They don't have a standard form of worship. Hindu believes all paths lead ultimately to god.

In Taoism, which means path or way, the path is a spiritual path, a state of mind, an attitude of utopia. Other than that the path isn't really defined. A desire to know the Supreme Being's paths is mentioned in scripture, "Shew me thy ways, O Lord, teach me thy PATHS." Psalms 25:4 {in bible}. He directs our paths. "In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy PATHS." Proverbs 3:6 {in bible}. He leads us in the paths. "He restoreth my soul, He leadeth me in the PATHS of righteousness for His name sake" Psalms 23:3 {in bible}.

Hindu believe that there isn't intrinsic evil, all is good. However, Hindu believ in "Virtuous Conduct"., the "Path to Sainliness". This is through self descipline and purification.

There is a Virtuous Path to Saintliness defined in John 14:6 {in bible} "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the father but by me." and in 2 Nephi 31:17-18 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ} it mentions the gate by which to enter. "For this cause have they been shown unto me, that ye might know the gate by which ye should enter. For the gate by which ye should enter is repentence and baptism by water and then cometh a remission of your sins ...by the Hoy Ghost."

There is a blessing of preservation and an inheritence in Zion with walking in the paths of virtue. "A revelation I give unto you concerning my will and if thou art faithful and walk in the PATHS of VIRTUE before me, I will preserve thy life and thou shalt receive an inheritance in Zion." and in 2 Nephi 9:41 "Come unto the Lord, the Holy One, remember that His PATHS are righteous. Behold the way for man is narrow but it lieth in a straight course before him and the keeper of the gate is the Holy One of israel...and there is none other way save it be by the gate..." There is joy in sharing the way with others who would want to follow. 2 Nephi "And it came to pass that I, nephi, did exhort my brethren with all deligence to keep the commandments of the Lord and it came to pass that they did humble themselves before the Lord insomuch that I had joy and great hopes of them that they would walk in the paths of righteousness." 1 nephi 16:4-5 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}.

As mentioned beforeHindu believes in a FREEDOM to believe and worship in a variety of ways.

God has given to every person on earth, the right to choose the way or not. "Therefore, cheer up your hearts and remember that ye are FREE to act for yourselves...to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life."

Hindu pray to idols of god as different forms of God.
This sounds similar to Shinto {The word} means gods. The Kami are the shinto deities, gods. There are numerous deities, those related to natural objects and creatures, those related to creative forces and those that guard particular areas and those in exceptional people.

As mentioned before I believe as the Hindu believe that there is a Supreme Being.
"For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, a great God..."
Deuteronomy 10:17 {in bible} and
"The king answered unto Daniel and said, of a truth it is that your God is a God of gods and Lord of lords." Daniel 2:47 {in bible} and
"...great is our God above all gods." 2 Chronicles 2:5 {in bible}
In Sum
"One Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all and in you all."
Ephesians 4:5-6 {in bible}

As mentioned before, The Hindu Path to Saintliness is through self discipline and purification.

I believe in being a good person, being virtuous, too. Being disciplined is a part of it.

Purification

"They did fast and pray oft and did wax stronger and stronger in their humility and firmer and firmer in the faith of Christ unto the filling their souls with joy and consolation, yea, even to PURIFYING and the sanctification of their hearts, which sanctification cometh because of their yeilding their hearts unto God."
Helaman 3:35 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"Pray unto the father with all the energy of heart that ye may be filled with this love which He hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of His son, Jesus Christ... that we may be PURIFIED even as He is pure."
Moroni 7:48 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
"Seeing ye have PURIFIED your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit..."
1 Peter 1:22 {in bible}
"O, have mercy and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins and our hearts may be PURIFIED for we believe in Jesus Christ, the son of God who created heaven and earth and all things, who shall come down among the children of men." Mosiah 4:2 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

A philosopher would say if you acknowledge virtuous conduct then you would realize that the opposite is misconduct. If virtue is good the opposite of virtue is bad. If bad opposes good than bad is evil. Therefore evil exists and it opposes good. It tempts people to choose bad instead of good conduct.

There is a vaiance of opinion as to whether humans are inclined or tend to be bad or good. Confucius believes that the nature of man is inclined toward goodness. I want to believe that. I would like to think so.

We all have the potential to be good. As children of Heavenly Father, who is the God of Gods, we have inherited some of His good qualities. Others have to be developed but we already have the potential.
"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God."
Romans 8:16 {in bible}
"Behold, the Lord hath created the earth that it should be inhabited and He hath created His children that they should possess it."
1 Nephi 17:36 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}
A prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints, David O McKay, said "The goal Jesus Christ set before His followers was the emancipation of men and women from greed, from anger, from jealousy, from hatred, from fear and in their place He hoped to bring about a complete and normal development of the individual's divine powers through right thinking."

"That we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men and cunning craftiness." Ephesians 4:14 {in bible}

The things of God are spiritually discerned through the Spirit by personal revelation.
Jesus said "If any man do His will he will know whether the doctrine is of God."

Thank you for permitting me to share what we have in common.

I found these when I was looking in my topical guide and they reminded me of my post "Path to Sainliness..."

There are "Path" scriptures

"Shew me thy ways, O Lord, teach me thy paths"
Psalms 25:4

"...it came to pass that they did humble themselves before the Lord, in so much that I had joy and great hopes of them, that they would walk in the paths of righteousness."
1 Nephi 16:5

To be honest I didn't read your entire question. Sorry. Nothing personal. I have work waiting and I'm trying to cut down my internet time. Your question seems very thoughtful and well researched though. (I glimpsed through it.) I know that you are basically saying that God is love. I agree with you 100%. Sai Baba believes that all religions lead to one God, so he preaches that there is only one religion - the religion of love. God is one but when people worship through different religions, it's like many rivers leading to one ocean. I believe that where there is love, God is always present. All love comes from God. Love, to me is God manifesting in our lives. If anyone asked me to describe my perception of God, I would say that God is love. God bless you.
