Perhaps they're remorseful and aknowledge that they've sinned. "The spirit is willing...." and all.

You're only a hypocrit if you yourself are not making an effort to change, or if you won't admit that you are a sinner, too.

Everyone sins...the people on the recieving end of the preaching are every bit the sinners as those doing the preaching.

Of course Christians are hypocritical. It should only surprise you if they were not! Christians are flawed human beings, just like anyone else. Why do you think Jesus said, "Let the one without sin throw the first stone?" Hypocrisy is part of the human condition. Following Jesus doesn't erase that trait.

Mmhmm. All of your replies I acknowledge as true. But I have another curious thought I would love to hear opinions on.

Would it then be true to say that anyone who calls someone else a hypocrite is themselves a hypocrite.

Hypocrites are everywhere. I try to be as humble as possible and do my best to set a good example instead of preaching (although if I see an injustice, I tend to be rather outspoken):)

I also found that accepting people for who they are combined with humbleness, tends to eliminate the "Holier Than Thou" attitude

Is anyone who calls someone a murderer, himself a murderer?

I know what you mean; "do as I say, and not as I do".........

Every Christian knows he is a sinner; when I sin, I am remorseful, I try very hard not to re-offend(and maybe I am not too good at that either), and I pray for forgiveness (although, I believe) I should be able to believe God will forgive me.

As a father, when I smoked, I told my son never to smoke .........was that wrong ? Just because I am a weak individual, does that stop me from warning others if they do something I believe is wrong ? - Not that I would.;)

Only if they present themselves as being perfect whilst pointing the finger at others' imperfections.

Surely you don't believe that Jesus was a hypocrite?
By no means. I was speaking on terms of sinful people. Jesus was not a sinner, but a spotless lamb. So, He isn't such likened to, neither a sinner, nor a hypocrite. :)

So are you ready to cast the first stone?
1 John 1:8 " If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
1 John 1:10 "If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
I am sinful because I am born of Adam, but thanks to the grace of God I can call myself righteous because of the blood of Jesus. But even after we accept Jesus it is still a constant struggle between the flesh and the Spirit. Romans 8 explains that very well.
I have a right to preach the gospel of Christ through the blood of Jesus, all my sin past and future is paid for.

I think what was intended as meaning was that, by accusing someone of hypocrisy, seeing as none but Christ are sinless, they themselves become a hypocrite. The premise is not the same with murder.
