Shopping for flags

I bought a house and it has a 20 foot flag pole in the front yard. What should I put on it? What would you put on it?

The wife says it can't be anything "dorky". Satanism counts as dorky for her.

While we're on the subject, look at the size of this ******* eagle!

How about an image of the Earth from the Moon, on a field of black, like the famous Earthrise photo, but full-planet. Earthrise - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
A peace symbol would be cool. Your wife might find it dorky, but it was a serious political symbol in its day.
Then there's always the upside down national flag, a recognised distress signal -- if you've got the stones for it.
Maybe a flag from another country with a government or social system more in line with your own tastes.

Of course, these days flying a Scottish flag could be construed as a political statement in itself.

What flags you raise really should speak to you and about you. I don't have a pole and haven't given much thought to what I would fly, but it is an interesting thought. My father currently flies the US flag, the US Navy flag and the POW/MIA flag. I might consider the Navy one myself, but I don't know what else. My hubby was in the Air Force though so we may have to compromise on that. :p

Why would a Scotsman want to fly the flag of an aggressive foreign empire?
Hasn't Scotland had enough of aggressive foreign empires?

You make it sound as if its a bad thing that America is an "Empire".

Xeper.

I don't know about those in Scotland but I had to retire my Bennington flag to the flames due to sun and wind damage. I would post a personal pic of my Bess laying on a Bennington flag with a hand scrimshawed powder horn, some .710 calibre balls and a hand tooled (by me) hunting bag and wish America a happy birthday
