For what it's worth...

The Sum of Awe

Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
A dirty little secret of mine that came out with the help of my Lutheran pastor, I used to laugh at the news like - "Kid kills mom over video game" or "Man gets hit by car over a quarter". But just when it hit me - these ridiculous, silly things - they ACTUALLY happen. That realisation changed my mindset a lot and I was thinking nothing of it before.

Religious teachers change your world.

Actually, a preacher once said it is a good thing to thank servers- clerks, waiters and waitresses, flight attendants, etc. Since then, I always thank them and when I do, they usually seem somewhat brightened by it. :)

Stories like "kid kills mom over video game" do not tell you anything about the previous ten or fifteen years, what issues were major in their lives at the time, what drugs or meds the kid (or his mom) may be on, or a variety of other relevant information.

The idea that the causal link made is cut-and-dried is questionable.
