jesus and prophecies .. strange! .. but true

if Christians didnt think the end was coming soon, then they would not be keeping on the watch as Jesus said we should. So i wouldnt be so concerned about the fact that some have said the end is coming tomorrow, but it didnt happen.

the issue would be if a christian didnt believe the end was coming at all. that would be unfortunate. BTW, the bible doesnt actually give a date...it only gives a 'sign'...JW's recognized the beginning of the 'sign' back in the early 1900's and that is why they wrongly believed that the end was upon them.

keep on waiting .. cheers ..

I am more of a reasonable person, I kind of see people dying, .. nothing happening.

I can easily say that England will win the worldcup ..

Well, ... that's realistic though, honestly, anything can happen.

But a 2000 years old person coming back on a cloud .. I am sorry.

I sincerely am not making fun of people's beliefs, but it's their choice, I can't help but make them think!

I will :)

but let me just say that if I didnt, what alternative would there be?

a world of violence, abuse, death, sickness? That doesnt give a person a lot to look forward to.

On the other hand, I can choose to put my faith in something better...something coming that will bring an end to all these things. And if it doesnt come, then i havnt lost anything anyway.

and thats why I will keep hoping in Christ and keep putting faith in his word that something better will be just ahead. And to live in hope makes me much happier then living without it. ;)

I have been through this at one time.

What else can I do? .. actually there's plenty to life than waiting for something that may or may not happen.

There are many of us that believe Christ HAS happened. To believe something will happen that has happened is not wise.

Proverbs 27:11 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart; then I can answer anyone who treats me with contempt.

Psalm 119:42 then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word.

Does it say trust in God's promise or trust in God's word? People have turned God's word into a promise.

Savagewind, I really don't understand what you mean that christ has happened, do you mean there exists an historical jesus?

No, I mean Christ is to be listened to NOW.
Revelation 2:7
Revelation 2:11
Revelation 2:17
Revelation 2:29
Revelation 3:6
Revelation 3:13
Revelation 3:22
Revelation 13:9

Christ is risen. Christ is present with YHWH presently.

Can anyone imagine that Christ is present as a spirit to be listened to but the people who profess to be following Him are saying in their hearts "when he returns we will listen to HIM"? That is what I see.

savagewind, what difference does it make if I listen now, or later or non at all?

please give me something reasonable, rather than just scary tales.

i hope Savagewind doesnt mind me butting in, but the simple reason why 'now' is the time to act is because mankind are being judged and separated now.

God is making a determination 'now' about who are peaceful , who want to see righteousness and justice prevail....he is looking for who will be the sort of subjects that will uphold his soverignty and his righteous standards.

If you are not willing to show that to him now, then you likely wont be willing to show it at that time either. So he is having the message preached earthwide now so that people can have an opportunity for life in Gods peaceful new world when it comes.

I hope he/she doesn't count me in, I am not interested to be honest.

Well actually, if this is the only life we have then you have lost out in living it the way you want as opposed to how a book or the elders/governing body want you to live. You have wasted your time trying to convert people. But it isn't just about you personally, what about other JWs? Especially the ones who's lives have been ruined by the elders, who didn't report their abusers because you can't take your brother to court? Or women who are abused by their husbands but aren't allowed to divorce them? but yet even though everyone in the congregation knows or have been witnesses to the abuse the husband isn't disfellowshipped? Yeah I would say some people would or are losing out if Jesus doesn't come back and it would of been all pointless...

you have the right to not be interested and he affords you the dignity to make that decision .... just as he affords others the right to decide in favor of it.

I've been there and done it all and I can assure you that by living according to Gods standards, im not missing out on anything.

eventually, as people get a bit older, they stop running on the worlds merrygoround anyway. They 'settle down' as they say. the things offered in the world are what the bible calls the 'temporary enjoyments of sin' because they cannot offer you any lasting pleasure.

They do not give life any real meaning....they are nothing more then an illusion because real happiness, joy and contentment come from within, not from outside.

Hi

here is a prophecy by Yehoshua/Jesus that came true in 70 AD...

(Luke 21:6 KJV) As for these things which ye behold, the days will come, in the which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.

I think organised religion is an illusion, especially for women. Contentment partly comes from within and partly comes from having enough to eat, etc etc
