How can we make it to heaven?

Do you have the peace of sins forgiven, and a hope beyond the grave? We need to be prepared to meet God before it is too late. Are you ready? If you died today, do you know if you would make it to heaven?


The heart of the Gospel Message of salvation is found in the Holy Bible in John 3:16.


John 3:16:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.


You can become a child of God and inherit eternal life in heaven when you die. Ask Jesus to save you today.


Romans 3:23:

All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.


Then where will all go to get their wages? The answer: Hell!


Psalm 9:17:

The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.


Romans 6:23:

For the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.


Matthew 10:28:

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.


Romans 5:8:

But God demonstrates His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.


Are we saved by good works? The answer: No!


Ephesians 2:8,9:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.


James 2:10:

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.


How to be saved:


Romans 10:9:

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.


To accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, ask Him into your heart and He will save your soul, by praying this prayer:


"Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. Forgive me of all my sins! I repent of my sins. I believe you died on the cross and rose from the dead on the third day for me. I now receive you as my personal Lord and Savior! In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!"

Hmm...so...d'you have to, you know, apologise to people you've wronged and try to set things straights and so on, before the whole forgiveness thing works, or is it a sort of "Get out of your sins free!" kinda deal? I've often wondered that.

Ultimately, the way I see it, as all people are God's creation, sinning against anybody/thing, is effectively sinning against God... Thus if you truely become a Christian and are truelly sorry for the sins you have commited you ask for forgiveness from these sins you have commited and from that point on try to be as good a person as possbile. As we are imperfect beings we will still sin, hence the reason we should bring our lives daily to God and ask for forgiveness from God, but, if possible, also from the person you sin against. eg. If I insult someone, a day later realise, hey I shouldn't have done that, ask God for forgiveness, I should try and find that person and say, hey I'm sorry, please forgive me...

Trust me, it's not a freebee, with belief in God, comes a true apologetic nature, so you will really truelly be sorry for the things you've done wrong in the past, and in the future...

Running cross country in high school.... Reminds me of running the Christian race!!!

In many ways, as Christian's, our spiritual race is much the same. Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 9:24, "Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it." He tells us to run this race in such a way that we may obtain the prize at the finish line.


I started running cross-country at Costa Mesa High School, in California my Alma Mater, in the fall of 1978. Also, I ran the mile and the two-mile in track in the spring of 1979 and through all four years of high school. I made several new friends on the cross-country team, and developed a close relationship with Coach Fisher. We had our summer running camp at his property in Idaho. The memories of those good times will always live on. We had the most successful cross-country season in the fall of 1980. We won all of our invitational races from Dana Hills to Mt. San Antonio. We were Boys Varsity Sea View league champions in 1980 and ranked number #1 in the state of California during my Junior year.

The Costa Mesa Boy's Varsity teams through 1969-1980 won the Orange County Championships six times under coach Joe fisher. The Costa Mesa Boy's varsity cross country still holds the record of six wins in the history of Orange County boys Varsity cross country. I was on the team that won Orange County Championships in 1980. My personal record in the 3-mile in high school was 14 minutes and 50 seconds. I give the Lord all the glory for allowing me to be a member of a winning team with a great Christian coach: Joe fisher!!!! Coach Joe Fisher was voted California high school cross country coach of the year in 1978 during my Freshman year.

Hmm. I was unclear in my post. My question was not whether it is right to try to make up for wrongs you've commited (because I think we can all agree that it is), but whether it was necessary to right them to get God's forgiveness. Do you have to apologize to the person (or, because that's not always possible, at least make an attempt), right the wrong, etc. before you get God's forgiveness? I understand that when it's truely not possible to do so, that shouldn't be held against you, but when it is, is it necessary?

You don't have to confess your sins, I think thats Catholic-like jargon.

In order to make it to heaven or more precisely the new jerusalem, you must first confess the savior of sin, the Lord Jesus Christ and be fully persuaded that God raised him from the dead. Now you have a lord, the Lord Jesus Christ, the son of God, who is decended from the line of Adam and David. God has made his son Jesus Christ the mediator between mankind and God. The Lord Jesus Christ is basicly the negotiator between you and God. Once you realize this you can ask God with thanksgiving of heart to recieve his holy spirit, which is God in Christ in You. That is how you get into heaven. You must have God's spirit dwelling inside you.

I know I'm going to heaven.

After I was saved I remember I did tell people I was sorry that I wronged them.

Something I don't understand: your God is a god of unending mercy, he will forgive anyone of whatever sins** (almost, but thats another post ^^), so why is he unable to forgive people once their physical bodies die? What is so significant about death. God is eternal, so he is living in the past, present, and future, so what is the kicker with death, when it is all the same to him. Lets asume bob the athiest is lying on his death bed, about to breathe his last. He can come full circle and repent, and be forgiven, or, if he waits 2 seconds longer and dies, he is eternally damned to hell. Why does the timing of repenting matter in eternity? Everyone is different, so why isn't God able to accept that some people are slow to accept a debatable fact, simply dont recognized it until they actually can see it for themselves. He just loves them so much he wants to see them sizzle. Unending Mercy indeed.
And they way to heaven is simple, you just emulate perfection.

Yes, I understand this. Fully. Just as I understand that it's good to try to make up for stuff you've done wrong. I just want to know if you need to try to right the wrong before you're forgiven (along with the asking forgiveness). Yes or no, that's all I'm asking. And, of course, a why or why not is bound to follow...

FWIW, Latter-Day Saints would answer your question with two words: Spirit Prison.

Not sure exactly how it compares to Purgatory, but the general idea is that you can repent after you die.
