A question

As a Muslim who has been able to grasp an adequate understanding of the Qur'an and the noble light in which Jesus and Mary (peace be upon them) are portrayed in that book, I wonder why the Christians do not study this book in more depth.

It is quite amazing how many Christians are awestruck by the purity of God's portrayal of Jesus, and its numerous references to the Bible and the true message of Jesus.
  • We don't hate Jesus or reject him
  • We have a holy book (proofs when you want them) which ackowledges yours, though makes it clear that it is a book tampered with (most people would recognize that the Bible has been altered)
  • Our belief of god is the purest monotheistic form
  • We believe in all of the same Prophets (you don't believe in Mohammed)
  • Moral codes are similar
  • We have no conflicting interests, why can't we just come and look at the Qur'an together and see the proofs in it, and acknowledge that Christianity was a message of a great Prophet which was distorted right through-out history, and that the fundamental teachings of Christianity are in fact incarnated in Islam which God has prescribed as the final message for mankind?
Is there some sort of stumbling block which stops Christians from being drawn towards Islam which has specifically mentioned aspects you associate with yourselves and would be totally relevant to you? This is a genuine phenomena which should really be occupying your minds instead of all this Christian denomination infighting.

"He [Jesus] said: 'I am indeed a servant of God. He has given me revelation and made me a prophet; He has made me blessed wheresoever I be; and He has enjoined on me prayer and charity as long as I live. He has made me kind to my mother, and not overbearing or miserable. So peace is on me the day I was born, the day that I die, and the day that I shall be raised up to life (again)!' Such was Jesus the son of Mary. It is a statement of truth, about which they (vainly) dispute. It is not befitting to (the majesty of) God that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! When He determines a matter, He only says to it, 'Be,' and it is" (19:30-35).

"When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: 'Now I have come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which you dispute. Therefore, fear God and obey me. God, He is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him -- this is a Straight Way.' But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement. So woe to the wrongdoers, from the penalty of a Grievous Day!" (43:63-65)

"And behold! God will say [i.e. on the Day of Judgment]: 'Oh Jesus, the son of Mary! Did you say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of God?' He will say: 'Glory to Thee! Never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would indeed have known it. You know what is in my heart, though I know not what is in Yours. For You know in full all that is hidden. Never did I say to them anything except what You commanded me to say: 'Worship God, my Lord and your Lord.' And I was a witness over them while I lived among them. When You took me up, You were the Watcher over them, and You are a witness to all things'" (5:116-117).

"Behold! the angels said, 'Oh Mary! God gives you glad tidings of a Word from Him. His name will be Christ Jesus, the son of Mary, held in honour in this world and the Hereafter, and in (the company of) those nearest to God. He shall speak to the people in childhood and in maturity. He shall be (in the company) of the righteous... And God will teach him the Book and Wisdom, the Law and the Gospel'" (3:45-48).

“Allaah will say (on the Day of Resurrection). ‘O ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Rooh‑ul‑Qudus [Jibreel (Gabriel)] so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al‑Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Tawraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel); and when you made out of the clay, a figure like that of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission, and when you brought forth the dead by My Permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill you) as you came unto them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said: This is nothing but evident magic’”

[al-Maa'idah 5:110]

You can believe that Jesus was just a prophet, where I believe he was the son of God. That's where our conflict will be. You can think the the NT. is not accurate, where I believe it is far more accurate then the OT. When you try to compare your apples to my oranges, it ain't going to work. Peace. :D

Hi islamz-warrior. I am a true and firm believer in the Divinity of Jesus Christ and the Bible. What keeps me from being drawn to Islam is quite a few things. 1: jihad (or "holy" war) There is nothing in Christianity that advocates the killing of your enemies. In fact, Christ said that we should love our enemies (Matthew 5:44-45). 2: Christ said that He was God not just a prophet when He said that "I and My Father are One.(John 10:30) Also what would be the point of a virgin birth if Jesus was not the Christ? I might be mistaken but I thought that the Islam faith taught that Mohammed was the greatest prophet. If this is so then wouldn't he have been born of a virgin and not Christ? 3: The treatment of women as lesser or unequal to men. Again I might be mistaken but I knew quite a few Muslims when I went to college and the women were required to wear burkas (I hope I spelled that right) and the like while the men would wear whatever they wanted. Christ did not advocate such behavior and inspired Galations 3:28. "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."
These are just some of the reasons why I don't believe in Islam. Hope that I answered you questions at least somewhatly.

Is there some sort of stumbling block which stops Christians from being drawn towards Islam which has specifically mentioned aspects you associate with yourselves and would be totally relevant to you? This is a genuine phenomena which should really be occupying your minds instead of all this Christian denomination infighting.

The quick answer to the above is 'No' there is no Stumbling Block.

I am a Christian (loosely described), and I am happy with my faith the way it is. I am happy to accept the New Testament of the Bible as the Holy book of my choice, and to believe in the trinity of God the father, the son, and the Holy ghost...........I have no 'need' to search elsewhere. One day, when I have time, I dare say I will read the Qu'ran, by interest, but I am perfectly happy with my present faith.;)
