EU and the Nobel Prize?

I bet the Nobel people have started using a random entity generator to pick winners.
Count your lucky stars that Romney didn't win it this time.

Other institutions such as the UN have been awarded the Nobel Peace prize before. The European Union has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for "six decades of work in advancing peace in Europe."

The committee said the EU had helped to transform Europe "from a continent of war to a continent of peace".

There will always be disagreements about who should win the Nobel prize, it has always been a bit controversial, but personally I think this award is quite well deserved.

What? Me worry?
Maybe the Nobel Peace Prize could be determined by raffle. This would allow the committee to offer more money and pick someone who, by chance, could really be deserving.

Looks to me like the "prize" has become PR fluff intended to give credibility to someone/group for political purposes. I no longer hold the Nobel Prize in high esteem. I find that sad, because I used to think it meant something good.

How odd that they would confer such a prize on the EU for promoting Economic Dementia. Go Europe!
