First some history of the Holy Spirit

He made an appearance during the feast of "Harvest". The Hebrew word is Shavuot, {Pentecost}.

Moses in Exodus 23:16 defines this time.
"The Feast of the harvest, the first fruits of thy labors which thou hast sown in the field and the feast of ingathering which is in the end of the year when thou hast gathered in thy labors out of the field."

This is the Feast that follows the Passover each year. That year, Jesus the Christ had been crucified and was resurrected {by the power of the Holy Spirit} at Passover time and now it is Pentecost or Shavuot time.

This is the story

"When the day of Pentecost was fully come {the Feast of the Harvest}}, they {the apostles} were all with one accord in one place. And there came a sound from Heaven as of a rushing mighty wind and it filled all the house, where they were sitting. There appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire and they were filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with {other languages} as the Spirit gave them utterance.

There were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation. Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded because that every man heard them speak in his own language. They were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these {the apostles},Galilaeans? How hear we, every man in our own tongue {language}, wherein we were born?

The dwellers in Mesopotamia and in Judaea and Cappadocia in Pontus and Asia. Phrygia and Pamphylia in Egypt and in parts of Libya about Cyrene and strangers of Rome, Jews and Proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our own tongue the winderful works of God.

They were all amazed and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?
Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine. Peter {one of the apostles}, standing up with the eleven lifted up hid voice and said unto them, Ye men of judaea and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you and hearken to my words, these are not drunken men as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel ...
"And it shall come to pass in the last days saith God, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy and your young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams and on my servants and on my handmaidens, I will pour out in those days of my Spirit and they shall prophesy."

My personal opinion: The Holy Ghost/Spirit is God in spirit dwelling in the hearts of the believers. How does He feel? IN wht respect/ How does it feel to have the Holy Spirit within you? Like a calm firm thought that brings you certian resolve that is scripturally sound. What sign that He is present? through the fruits of their labor

What an absolutely wonderful answer Judi; Just for a different perspective, I looked at the wikipedia, the Catholic Encyclopedias, but frankly the definitions are so obtuse as to confuse, rather than explain. So very well put!:clap

The Holy Ghost is the third member of the Godhead.

"The Father {first member of the Godhead}, has a body of flesh and bones as tangible as man's, the Son {His Son, Jesus Christ, second member of the Godhead}, also has a body of flesh and bones but the Holy Ghost has not a body of flesh and bones, but is a personage of Spirit, were it not so, the Holy Spirit could not dwell in us."
Doctrines and Covenants 130:22 { revelations to a prophet of God, Joseph Smith, who was worthy to see them}

Another source that verifies this.
"I beheld that He was in the {spirit form} of man, yet nevertheless, I know that it was the Spirit of the Lord and He spake unto me as a man speaketh with another."
1 Nephi 11:11 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"I will pray the father and He shall give you another Comforter that He may abide with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him but ye know Him for He dwelleth with you and shall be in you."
John 14:16-17 {in bible}

"The wind bloweth where it listeth and thou hearest the sound thereof but canst not tell whence it cometh and wither it goeth..."
John 3:8 {in bible}

"God is a Spirit [ the third member of the Godhead} and they that worship Him must worship Him in the Spirit and in truth."
John 4:24 {in bible}

"For through Him {Jesus Christ}, we both have access by one Spirit {the Holy Spirit} unto the Father."
Ephesians 2:18 {in bible}

"For God does not give us the spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
2 timothy 1:7

Psalms 51:10 {in bible}
In this Psalm, David pleads that God will renew a right spirit within him.
"Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me."

Signs of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit's presence.

"And Jesus when He was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo, the heavens were opened unto Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him and a voice from Heaven saying "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
Matthew 3:16 {in bible}

More history of the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit

King David in Psalms 51:11 mentioned the Holy Spirit.
"...take not thy Holy Spirit from me."

David spoke by {the gift of prophesy} from the Holy Spirit

"And Jesus answered and said while in the Temple. How say the scribes that Christ {Messiah} is the son of David?
For David himself, by the Holy Ghost, calleth Him Lord. When is He then David's son?"
Mark 12:35-36 {in bible}
In other words, none of David's sons were invited to sit at the right hand of God.
Therefore the Messiah would have to be a descendent of David through the patriarchal line of descent, a son of a son of a son of a son, ect.

David's Psalm 110:1
"The Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand until I make thine enemies thy footstool."
A Lord was saying unto another Lord, "Sit at my right hand."
That placement gived both Lords equal staus.

In Psalm 132:17
"There will I make the horn of David bud, I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed of the fruit of David's loins {seed}."
This is how we know that the Messiah is a descendent of David.

God the Father will set another upon His throne. This other will be David's Lord and He will also sit on a throne at the right hand of God, the Father in the Father's Kingdom.
David was affirming His allegiance to the promised King of kings. he would be a King of king david. He would be a superior King in righteousness because He was worthy to sit at the hand of God, the Father. He would have great authority and dominion. He would be a priest of the order of Melchizedek. He would have the same priesthood bestowed on him as Melchizedek had received. Melchizedek was a righteous king of Salem, a king of peace, a priest and a prophet at the time of Abram. He is mentioned in
Genesis 14:18-20

This puts this all together.
"Let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David. Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ {Messiah} to sit on his throne. He seeing this before spake of the Resurrection of Christ {that God, the Father will not suffer His Holy One to see {body"s} corruption. This Jesus, God hath raised up, whereof we are all witnesses. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made that same Jesus, both Lord and Christ {the Messiah}."
Acts 29-36

David's Psalm 16:10 that speaks of the Resurrection.
"For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption."

Another scripture from another time.

1 Samuel 2:6 {in bible}
"The Lord bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up."

David spoke by the Holy Spirit again
"This scripture must needs have been fulfilled which the Holy ghost by the mouth of David, spake before concerning Judas which was guide to them that took Jesus."
Acts 1:16

David's Psalm 41:9
"Mine own familiar friend in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread hath lifted up his heal against me.

"I looked and beheld the Redeemer of the world of whom my father had spoken and I also beheld the prophet who should prepare the way before Him. The Lamb of God went forth and was baptized of him and after He was baptized , I beheld the heavens open and the Holy Ghost came down out of heaven and abide upon Him in the form of a dove."
1 Nephi 11:27 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

TRINITY MYSTERY SOLVED with Matthew 3:16

"And Jesus when He was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo, the heavens were opened unto Him and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting upon Him and a voice from Heaven saying "This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased."

This scripture shows that the members of the Godhead are three distint individuals.
Jesus emerging from the water after being immersed, the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descending from Heaven and a voice from haven {Heavenly Father} speaking and saying that Jesus is His Son. He didn't say this is myself.

"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him."
Acts 10:38 {in bible}

"And these signs shall follow them that believe. In my name shall they cast out devils."
Mark 16:17 {in bible}

"And he being full of the Holy Ghost looked up stedfastly into Heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus standing on the right hand of God."
Acts 7:55

"Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us by the way and while He opened to us, the scriptures"
Luke 24:32 {in bible}

One of the signs that you feel when the Holy spirit is in you is your heart feels warm.

More about How the Holy Spirit Feels

"And behold, the Holy Spirit of God did come down from Heaven and did enter into their hearts and they were filled as if with fire and they could speak forth marvelous words."
Helaman 5:45 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

This is How the Holy Spirit Answers Our Questions

"You must study it out in your mind then you must ask me if it be right and if it is right, I will cause your {heart} to swell that your heart shall burn {be warm} within you, therefore you shall feel that it is right."
Doctrines and Covenants 9:8

Another prophetic Psalm which the Holy Ghost spake by the mouth of david.

"This scripture must needs have been fulfilled which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of david spake before, concerning Judas which was guide to them that took Jesus."
Acts 1:16 {in bible}

This is David's prophetic Psalm 41:9 {in bible}
"Mine own familiar friend in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread hath lifted up his heel against me."

Jesus quoted the The prophet Malachi, who wrote about John the Baptist.
"Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning {John the Baptist}, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?... A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in king's houses. What went ye out to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he of whom it is written "Behold, I send my messenger before thy face which shall prepare the way before thee."

The prophet Malachi wrote of John the Baptist in Malachi 3:1
This is what Jesus what quoting.
"Behold, I will send my messenger and he shall prepare the way before me and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to His Temple, even the messenger of the covenant,whom ye delight in, saith the Lord of hosts."

The Holy Spirit can give to a person or persons, the ability to discern whether what is being heard is true or not. A way the person or persons are able to discern truth is the Holy Spirit craetes a good feeling in the chest area {heart}.

The Holy Spirit also enables people to understand each other when they are speaking the truth by putting His Spirit within them so they are able to perceive what each is thinking.

In the case of Zeezron, Alma was able to perceive that Zeezron was lying.

The Holy Spirit, a Source of Testimony

How Does the Holy Spirit Answer Our Questions?
How Do You Get a Testimony of a Truth?

This is an example, a true story from "Another Testement of Jesus Christ".

"The king { Lamoni }, said, "What shall I do that I may have this eternal life of which thou hast spoken? What shall I do that I may be born of God, having this wicked spirit rooted out of my breast and receive His spirit that I may be filled with joy? ... I will give up all I possess, I will forsake my kingdom that I may receive this great joy."
Aaron said unto him, "If thou desirest this thing, if thou wilt bow down before God, if thou wilt repent of all thy sins and will bow down before God and call on His name in faith, believing that ye shall receive, then shalt thou receive the hope which thou desirest."

It came to pass when Aaaron had said these words the king did bow down before the Lord upon his knees...upon the earth and cried mightily saying, "O God, Aaron hath told me that there is a god, IF THERE IS A GOD AND IF THOU ART GOD WILT THOU MAKE THYSELF KNOWN UNTO ME and I will give away my all my sins to know thee and that I be raised from the dead and saved at the last day..."

1 Corinthians 12:3 {in bible}

"Whosoever believeth on my words, them will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit."
Doctrines and Covenants 5:16

"Thou knowest that thou hast inquired of me and I did enlighten thy mind and now I tell you these things that thou mayest know that thou hast been enlightened by the Spirit of Truth."
Doctrines and Covenants 6:15

"For my Spirit is sent forth into the world to enlighten the humble and contrite..."
Doctrines and Covenants 136:33

A person wouldn't have a way to know that Jesus is the Christ, Messiah, other than through the Holy Spirit, who testifies of truth.

"He {Jesus} saith unto them, Whom say ye that I am?
And simon Peter answered and said Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou Simon Barjona for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee but my Father which is in Heaven."
Matthew 16.15-17 {in bible}

"Him hath God exalted with His right hand to be a prince and a savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins and we are all witnesses of these things

I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God. I have fasted and prayed many days that I might know these things of myself and now I do know of myself that they are true for the Lord God hath made them manifest unto me by His Holy Spirit and this is the Spirit of Revelation which is in me."

Moroni 10:7 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"The Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore it speaketh of things as they really are and of things as they really will be. Wherefore these things are manifested unto us plainly for the salvation of our souls...Behold, we are not witnesses alone in these things for God also spake them unto prophets of old."
Jacob 4:13 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"Ye have entered in by the gate, ye have done according to the commandments of the Father and the Son and ye have received the Holy Ghost which witnesses of the Father and the Son..."
2 Nephi 31:18 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

When a person speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost the same power carries a conviction to the hearer.

"And now if the Lamb of God being Holy, should have need to be baptized by water to fulfil all righteousness, then, how much more need have we, being unholy, , to be baptized, yea, even by water. Who is the Holy Spirit? How does He answer our questions? How does He feel?

The Holy Spirit is the precious spirit of God who dwells within me, guiding me and directing me. The Holy Spirit answers my questions by guiding me in my ways and providing me with spiritual confirmation when I'm unsure of things. When I feel the Holy Spirit stir within me, come upon me or work through me...it just feels RIGHT and I'm filled with a sense of wholeness, comfort and purpose. God is so good. Truly.

The holy Spirit is like a cleansing agent to purify a person and sanctify from all sin.

"We believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us and also we know of their surety and truth because of the Spirit of the Lord, omnipotent which has wrought a mighty change in our hearts that we have no more disposition to do evil but to do good continually."
Mosiah 5:2 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"After being sanctified by the Holy Ghost ... being pure and spotless before God {they} could not look upon sin, save it were with abhorrence."
Alma 13:12 {ANother Testement of Jesus Christ}

"But the Fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, ...Gentleness, Goodness and Faith."

Gifts of the Holy Ghost

Exodus 31:3
"And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and in understanding and in knowldge and in all manner of workmanship."

Numbers 11:24-25
"And Moses went out and told the people the words of the Lord and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and set them round about the Tabernacle. The Lord cam down in a cloud and spake unto him and took of the Spirit that was upon him and gave it unto the seventy elders and it came to pass that when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease."

The Holy Ghost knows all things and can lead one to know future events. That is how Prophesy happens. Those in tune to the Holy Ghost are able to prophessy if they have this gift.

"There are diversities of gifts, but the same spirit and there are differences of administrations but the same Lord but the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

For to one is given by the Spirit:

1. The Word of Wisdom

2. to another, The Word {I'm am not sure what this is}

3.to another, Faith

4.to another, Healing

5.to another, the Working of Miracles

6. to another Prophesy
"The Testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophesy" Revelation 19:10 {in bible}

7. to another, Discerning of spirits

8. to another, Diverse kinds of Languages

9. to another, the Interpretation of Languages

"For as the body is one body and has many members and all the members are one body
So also is Christ"
1 Corinthians 12:4-31 {I used excerpts from these}

In other words, members of the Church makeup the body of Christ in a spiritual sense. It is figurative. Members of a church should represent Christ, be like him, be as He is to represent Him well. In that sense, they makeup the body of Christ in their portrayal of Him. Some churches represent Him better than others as individuals represent Him better than others. People are at varying degrees of rigtiousness.

Each member has a gift, each has a useful function that aids the others. Just like arms and legs, eyes and ears are members of a physical body and work together.

1 Corinthians 12:4-20
"And the eye can not say to the hand, I have no need of thee"

Ephesians 4:3 {in bible}
"Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of Peace."

I Corinthians 12:28 {in bible}
"And God hath set some in the Church:

Firstly, Apostles

Secondarily, Prophets

Thirdly, Teachers

Fourthly, Miracles

fifthly, gifts of Healing

Sixth, other Helps

Seventh, Diversities of Languages

"I Nephi said unto them, Behold they were manifest unto the Prophet by the voice of the spirit for by the Spirit are all things made known unto the prophets."
1 Nephi 22:2 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"I exhort you that you deny not the Gifts of God, for they are many and they come from the same God ... and they are given by the manifestations of the Spirit of God unto men to profit them."

Mosiah 18:10 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

'All those who humble themselves before God and desire to be baptized and come forth with broken hearts and contrite spirits and witness before the Church that they have truly repented of all their sins and are willing to take upon them the name of Jesus Christ, having a determination to serve Him and truly manifest by their works that they have received of the spirit... shall be received by baptism into His Church."
Doctrines and Covenants 20:37

"And the remission of sins bringeth meekness and lowliness of heart and because of meekness and lowliness of heart cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost, which Comforter filleth with Hope and perfect Love."

Can't beat that for a clear, concise answer. Thanks fth :)

The place of the scripture which he read was this..."He was lead as a shepp to the slaughter and like a lamb, dumb before his shearer so opened he not his mouth. In his humiliation, his judgement was taken away and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth. Who is the Holy Spirit? How does He answer our questions? How does He feel?

Another presumptuous question. I never think in terms of the Holy Spirit. Never. It is such an "outside-looking-in" version of reality. How on Earth could any person state how such an alleged being would feel is quite beyond me. Talk about creating your own reality.

Simply a fire spirit. What it does, and how it acts differs for each individual who perceives it.
Well, it was bound to happen. What on Earth are you going on about man? Are you just being charitable by lending support to this sadsack cause?

Not that anyone will give it the slightest bit of interest, here is the real breakdown, at least to this delusion fool.

The Father = The Soul or Entity.
The Son = The physical self
The holy spirt = The dream self. (Or the dream "double")

So, in those terms, How does He answer our questions? In very creative terms within the dreamscape. How does He feel? Well.... IT feels pretty good, actually. You ought to try sensing your dream double sometime. You may be enchanted with what you find. Or you could just remain sitting there idling speculating on flights of fancy.

Not sure I'm understanding you. But if you just want me to elaborate, here goes...

When I first started working with the spirits, I did alot of study of how they are described in different religions. The one thing that really strikes me about the writings in the bible is how they describe the holy spirit. They first describe it as fire, which is absolutely amazing because fire is pure energy. They must know what they are talking about if they describe it in this manner. Since all spirits are in fact pure energy. To say it is a fire spirit takes it a step further, because fire spirits are very powerful spirits. When I first worked with a fire spirit, the energy was so empowering that I understood the early christians convictions of it's presence. But I still knew that there must be more to the "holy spirit" than it just being a fire spirit.

So I started documenting the vibrations of each spirit I encountered. And of course different fire spirits had different vibrations. So just as some spirits that have a vibrational signature of a wolf, are much more powerful than just a normal wolf spirit. I knew that the holy spirit must have been a spirit with a vibrational signature of a fire spirit, but much more powerful. This I came to realize after my studies with modern christian mystics, priests, monks, nuns, etc... There was a fire spirit, that was so powerful, and so enlightening that it "decended upon them like a dove." :D

So what was the spirit of fire and enlightenment? Well call it what you want. Call it the holy spirit, call it part of the trinity of god. That's all fine. But in the end, it is just one of the most powerful and enlightening fire spirit that I, or anyone I have read about, has encountered. Is it the "spirit of god in this world"? I definitely don't see why not. But I also see ALL spirits as "spirits of god." :D

Nicely put, if from a different perspective; I guess looking at the same idea from different angles hurts no one.;)

Wow! What an awesome explanation.
I'm glad you elaborated! :cool:
I was just thinking the same thing. I think this gives me a better understanding of the Holy Ghost, or Holy Spirit, or Spirit of God, or whatever you want to call this "pure energy" fire-like being, or spirit. God must posses a pure energy as well. A purifying energy, which goes forth from his being, to humanity, through the Holy Ghost into people's lives. The Holy Ghost is said to have the power to purify as with fire.
