The principles that Confucius taught coexists with any Eastern Religeon in a complementary way. It is lived in syncretism. It is also harmoious with Christianity.
Confucius said society is made up of five relationships:
1. Husband and Wife
2. Parent and Child
3. Friend to Friend
4. Elders to Younsters
5. Rulers to Subjects or Ministers

I want to see if this transfers through before I write more because I wrote this before but it didn't transfer.

Confucius said Jen, {Social Goodness}, are the supreme virtues that help social harmony and peace.
These are:

A. Sincerity
B. Respectfulness
C. Magnanity {Generosity}
D. Charity
E. Loving Kindness
F. Deligence
G. Shu or Altruism

The Universal Virtues are:

1. Benevolence, Sincerity and Kindness {Jen Virtues}

Confucius said benevolence is to love all mankind

2. Generosity of soul {the perfect virtue}

3. Wisdom

4. Fortitude

5. Earnestness

Confucius believed we should do unto others as we would have them do unto us like Buddhism and Christianity. There have been prophets of God who have echoed these through the years in their addresses during conferences of the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints.

Confucius exhorted people to develope good character which he said was the best of all virtues. Part of cultivating character is purity of heart like Buddhism and Christianity.

He suggested steps for self development in this order:
1. Investigation of Phenomena
2. Learning
3. Sincerity
4. Rectitude of Purpose
5. Self Development
6.Family discipline
7. local Self Government
8. Universal Self Government

Love of parents for children and Love of children for parents.

Prophets of God have spoken volumes on that very subject
I have have gleaned from their addresses to comment on various topics. I discovered their addresses that were compiled into books at a bookstore while passing through Salt Lake City during a road trip.

As regarding the Husband and Wife relationship, one of the five relationships Confucius said made up society.

These are what I found:

1. Spouses should control their temper and guard their speech and try to remain calm.

2. Develope a capacity to communicate to eachother, cultivate effective communication

3. Discuss problems, work towards solutions

4. Differences should be worked out in love

5.Make plans together, cooperate towards common objectives.

6. Be considerate of eachother

7. Show courtesy towards eachother

8. Respect eachother

9. Be sensitive to eachother's feelings

10. Have kindly regard one for the other

11. Husbands and Wives are equal partners

12. Be true to each other, honest, a Xin value

13. Be loyal to each other

14. Be helpmates to each other

15. Husbands should provide a home for their families and make them comfortable and add to their family's happiness and well being.

16. A Husband should provide for the material needs of his family which makes the Mother nourishing her children possible.
The prophets have emphasized the importance of Mothers staying home to nurture and train children.

17. A Wife should be a joy to her Husband and delight in her husband

18. Cultivate the principles that promote one another's happiness

19 A home should be a haven for peace.

20. Be kind to each other

21. Express love to each other

22. Have the same courtesy in your homes that you have when you are out in society.

Prophets of God have supplied methods for this as well;

1. "A child left to himself bringeth shame"
Proverb 29:15 {in bible} quoted in a prophet's address
As mentioned earlier, a Mother should stay in the home to nurture and train their children.

2. Every child is entitled to security in the home, to feel secure. Children are secure, feel secure, if they feel thay are loved by their parents. Protect your children

3. A Mother should nurture in body, mind and spirit

4. Parents should provide wholesome food that will nourish them.
See that they are warmly clad {when it's cold}

5. See that they have plenty of rest

6.See that only good material {books, music,radio, t.v, movies} enters your home.
Guard against programs that degrade.
Seek what is good, good literature, music, movies, that promote good.

7. In training children, parents should not provoke their children to wrath.
Ephesians 6:4
"Fathers, provoke not your children to wrath..."

Mosiah 1:4 {Anpother testement of Jesus Christ}
"For it were not possible that our father Lehi could have remembered all these things, to have taught them to his children, except it were for the help of these plates, for he having been taught in the language of the Egyptians therefore he could read these engravings and teach them to his children that thereby they could teach them to their children and so fulfuilling the commandments of God, even down to the present time."

Alma 36:3 {Another Testement of Jesus Christ}

"Suffer not yourself to be led away by any vain or foolish thing, suffer not the devil to lead away your heart again after those wicked harlots. Behold, my son, how great iniquity ye brought upon the Zoramites for when they saw your conduct, they would not believe in my words."

One of the recommendations of some prophets to members of the church is to have a year's supply of food storage for family preparedness if there might be an even such as a hurricane or earthquake that would obstruct access to food. Care should be taken that it doesn't spoil. Some members grow their own foor such as vegeatbles and fruit in their yards and what they can they preserve, store in jars made for that purpose with the proper lid for sealing.

As regarding the third and fourth kind of relationship, that of Friend to Friend and Youngster to Elder, the Jen social values apply as well.

Principles that have to do with Jen virtues in relation to others, that I am familiar with, are in the bible and nother testement of Jesus Christ as well as the revelations of the prophets.

let not the sun go down upon your wrath
Ephesians 4:26

Doctrines and Covenants 136:25

Hebrews 13:3 {in the bible}

be patiant toward all men

7. Ye ought to support the weak
Acts 20:34-35 {in bible}

8. Bear one another's burdens
Galations 6:2 {in bible}

9. Visit the sick
Matthew 25:36 {in bible}

10. As a family visit sick relatives, friends, the lonely, share food

11.If any man shall give unto you a coat or a suit, take the old and cast it unto the poor
Doctrines and Covenants 84:105

12. Clothe the naked
Matthew Chapter 25 {in bible}

13. Clothe yourselves with charity
Doctrines and Covenants 124:116

14. Feed the hungry, Give drink to the thirsty
Matthew 25:35 {in bible}

15. When thou makest a meal {feast}, call the poor, the maimed, the lame and the blind
Luke 14:13-14

16. Charity edifieth
1 Corinthians 8:1

17. Silver and gold, have I none, but such as I have, give I thee
Acts 3:6 {in bible}

18. For if there be first a WILLING MIND, it is accepted according to that a man hath
2 Corinthians 8:12 {in bible}

Charity...
A. thinketh no evil
B. is not easily provoked
C. is not indecent
D. is not puffed up {doesn't vaunt itself}
E. Charity is kind

27. Let brotherly love {charity} continue

29. Put on mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness. Forbearing one another. Above all these things, put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness
Colossians 3:12-14 {in bible}

The story of the "Good Samaritan"

Jesus said "A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho and fell among thieves which stripped him of his raiment and wounded him and departed, leaving him half dead. By chance there came down a certain priest that way and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. A certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was and when he saw him, he had compassion on him and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine and set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. On the morrow when he departed, he took out two pence and gave them to the host and said unto him, Take care of him and whatsoever thou spendest more, when I come again, I will repay thee. Which now thinkest thou was charitable unto him that fell among theives?"

Confucius taight the Xin virtues,Honesty and Trustworthiness mentioned by the prophets addresses as to how we should treat our spouses and children and also how we should treat others.

Other virtues that confucius taught are:

A. Integrity

B. Propriety

C. Filial Piety

D. Being Just

E. Being Humble

Confucius said "A person who possesses all these virtues becomes Chun-Tze, a perfect gentleman

One of Confucius' values is Yi {righteousness}

Confucius said "A way to please God is through Good Conduct"

The Lord loves righteousness

Confucius believed that the nature of man is inclined towards goodness.
That is optimistic! I want to believe this.

He taught that every man should attempt to reach the ideal, the perfection of goodness, by possessing a noble character and continuing to live a virtuous life.

Confucius advocated a gaovernment in which the sovereign is benevolent and honorable and the subjects are respectful and obedient. {that is if the sovereign is benevolent and honorable. He said "The ruler himself should be virtuous, just, honest, dutiful"

The Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints official statement to it members is that the church does not propmote either political party {democrate or republican}. Members as individuals should vote for who they think would be best. Members should not campaign at church for either candidate or party.

Official statement of the Church of Jesus Christ of latterday saints "The church out of respect for the rights of all it's members to have their political views, must maintain the strictest possible neutrality"

The church recommends:

1. Studying the platforms of the candidates

2. Praying to the Lord for guidance

3. Going to the polls and voting what his/her conscience believes, {believes to be right}

4.4. To stand for right and for those things that are good

"He that ruleth over man must be just"
2 Samuel 23:3 {in bible}

Confucius agrees as said earlier "The ruler himself should be virtuous, just, honest, dutiful"

Prophets in their addresses have said this;

1. "Honest men and wise men should be sought deligently"
Doctrines and Covenants 98:10

2. "Civil officers that will administer the law in equity and justice should be sought for"

3. "The traits of honesty and sincerity must dominate in leaders of a nation."
Doctrines and Covenants 98:9

4. "When the wicked rule, the people mourn"

The prophets admonish to be good citizens.

One of the prophets defined citizenship with these virtues that contribute to the dignity of man:

A. Honesty

B. Keeping a Promise

Both of these are Xin Virtues

3. Loyalty

Other statements of prophets are:

1. We should obey the laws of the country
which includes traffic rules

2. Respect other's rights and property

3. We should become informed and participate appropriately in local and national affairs

4. Develope a capacity to communicate to each other in our communities

5. Work within the law to be an influence for that which is good.

6. Use our influence so that men and women of upright character are elected to office.

7. We must stand firm today and always for human rights and the dignity of man

8. Love Justice

The world can be made better only to the extent that men desire peace. Not only peace but science, industry and commerce rests on the integrity of men

"Make proposals for peace"
Doctrines and Covenants 105:40

This concludes what I wanted to share with you about the principles that Confucius taught that are the same as those taught in the bible, another testement of Jesus Christ, Doctrines and Covenants and the prophet addresses.

I hope this shows what we have in common.

Thank you for permitting me to share this with you.
