Who Is The Lucifer To You?

I've seen many differing opinions from theists on who or what The Lucifer is. There's the common story of a fallen angel (not Biblically supported, the word 'Lucifer' in the Authorised Version meant morning star, Venus, and is not a name).
Some associate him with Prometheus, the bringer of fire (light).
I suppose this is a question aimed at theists, but atheist input is desired also
So, who or what is The Lucifer to you? Is he a sun god? An angel? A deity? &c.

The Sum of Awe

Brought to you by the moment that spacetime began.
Does symbolic work for an answer?

I usually depict him as the sun if I decide to use him.

Lucifer is merely a scapegoat for man's evil. There need not be a personification of evil for man does evil enough on his own.

I don't see Lucifer as evil, that's more of Satan the adversary's role.

Good. Because we Atheist's will answer regardless ;)

Anyway, I see Lucifer a symbol. Lucifer is the light-bringer, who carries the torch of Knowledge and lights the path towards enlightenment, who, like Prometheus, gave the burning desire of knowledge to Humanity

A title that can be taken by any living being with the right amount of effort. Light symbolizing knowledge, fact, truth, etc.

No, that's Satan. Luciferians tend to see him in a completely different Light to Satan. The Lucifer = The Devil concept is a late Christian belief. Originally Jesus was also called The Lucifer.

:cover: I thought Lucifer is the Satan.

Personally, to me Lucifer is the bringer of light, the serpent in the Garden of Eden; he's also Prometheus, who brought fire from the Gods down to Humans. He is WITH Humanity, he's not working against it. I envision him as a kind of guiding spirit, taking on any form he wills, guarding people against the actions of the tyrannical God, but they have to choose to follow him. People who follow the Lucifer seek enlightenment, knowledge, wisdom, experience &c.

Satan, on the other hand, is (for me) the dark side of everything, but he is needed for the balance of light and darkness which rules the Earth. I see him as another aspect of the tyrannical God. He is temptaton &c, but sometimes I feel it's good to give into temptation. For me there is no absolute morality, which is one of the reasons I reject the so called God, because he asks for perfection. Every once in a while we need to indulge in sin. Satan reminds us when it's time to take a break.

Of course, every Luciferian and every Satanist will have extremely different views when compared with mine.

Lucifer and Satan are not and never were the same being. Following such a line of thought is illogical considering that Jesus Christ supposedly called himself the bright morning star.

For sure he does:

Rev. 22:16 - I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

I meant supposedly because it's possible Jesus never existed or those words were put into his mouth.

Of course, I just wanted to make sure people knew he's really supposed to have said it, since most confuse The Lucifer for Satan. Just a precautionary measure, haha.
It's nice to know what people think though.

When I still was a Christian, Lucifer was only a name used by some authors, not necessarily religious, for the Devil. It was no part of my belief or my Bible. Oh, and the Dutch word for a match, which brings light when you strike it.
