Everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled and he who humbles himself shall be exalted.
READINGS:
1. Ecclesiastes 3:17-18, 20, 28-29
2. Hebrews 12:18-19, 22-24
3. Gospel of Luke 14:7-14
REFLECTION: Humble yourself. Know who you are. Know that you flow out from God as his creation, that all you are and have flows out of his goodness. To be humble means ever to be in need of blessings, ever to receive from God all that we are and have.
PRAYER: Lord, help us to see the truth about ourselves. May we never deny our strengths and virtues either. To deny these would be to deny the goodness of what you have made. Amen.
FAMILY DISCUSSION/ACTIVITY:
Monday:
Meditate today on what you think being humble means.
Tuesday:
Use your special gifts today to do something for the family.
Wednesday:
Pray with your family today the Mysteries of Light of the Rosary.
Thursday:
At dinner tonight discuss the special gifts that each possesses and give thanks.
Friday:
Read the gospel today as meditation. Luke 14, 7-14.
Saturday:
Today is a special day to honor Mary. Pray to her that you and your family might imitate her humility.
PRAYER: Lord, as our lives unfold from day to day, help us to accept in a spirit of peace all that they bring us. Help us to meet the difficulties that come with courage and humility. Amen.
