Occultism

That's an interesting notion: you follow a person. A dead person. All our "God states" are eternal, Christ tried teaching that. The Church twisted it. You do not believe it, you follow the Church.

Jesus Christ is alive.

He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Matthew 28:6

And this is what He taught:

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. John 11;25

If I can convince myself I am God then what is the difference? You convinced yourself you are weak and in need of higher divine authority. You may bow to me if you wish. You are the one following Self denying beliefs, I am following Self empowering beliefs. You see? No, I am not God. I am a man, that is how I am able to use this forum. But, make your consciousness that of God, and once you are rid of this body Come into Being as God. What exactly that is, of course, we cannot fully understand.
Little kids like to convince themselves they are superheros, but that doesn't mean it is true. I haven't convinced myself of anything, I have believed God's Word.

It is the outcome of severe brainwashing that someone could believe in a loving God. Why does he not love children who are molested, the villages that are exterminated, the people wiped out by natural disaster. How does your God choose who earns His love?
It is so easy to make blanket statements and blame the biblical God for every wrong in the world. Of course this is just an excuse not to submit one's life to Him, because the scriptures clearly show the source of the evil things which occur. I have three friends who were molested as children and not one of them has said, "God did it" because He didn't. It was their own sinful human father.

God does not choose who earns His love. It is available to all and He pours it out on anyone who desires His love. You say you have read the scriptures, but you are truly biblically illiterate. LOVE by it's very definition is given, not earned. Read the parable of the lost son (Luke 15:11-20) and tell me how this son earned his father's love.

Actually, "New Age" beliefs have existed much longer than your Christian mythology. Mysticism has been around all of human history, and scientific FACT now backs up the ideas.
[/quote]

My beliefs start here;

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Gen. 1:1

I have no disagreement with you concerning the long history of mysticism since Satan has been inspiring it since early on in human history.

Scientific facts do not necessarily back up the ideas you believe. It is just that the scientific community in general (but not all scientists) have rejected the concept of a Personal Creator, but impersonal mystical concepts are acceptable. So some are attempting to make a connection between science and mysticism. This is much more palatable to those who believe humans are on the verge of a quantum leap into the next evolutionary step toward god-consciousness than the idea of being accountable to a personal Creator.

1. Bible quotes mean nothing.
2. Why not let your child decide on that?
3. God allows it.
4. You're denying facts for faith. There is no excuse for that, you deny the one thing we KNOW for comfort.

The universe is in our minds. Everything is subjective except the fact that energy makes everything. We subjectively perceive it. There are no gods of any kind except that which we manifest. If one needs a god, they come into being as submissive and in need of guidence. They create concepts that they bow to, when they are really bowing to their own mind. And so, upon death, since energy only cycles and changes form, they will come back into being as a human in need of guidence. If one comes into being AS god though, we come back into being at a "higher state", which we cannot comprehend now except through experience. Mediation is simply experiencing higher being and magick simlpy utilizes it. Who's to say we can't change our subjective at even the quantum level?

I haven't convinced myself of anything, I have believed God's Word.

So you heard the word of God and you are not convinced, huh? ;)

You seem to be pretty convinced that what you are convinced to believe is the word of God is what is the actual word of God.

Very well said “InChrist” I agreed with you.
There are literally tens of thousands of people across the world who claim to have psychic powers and the ability to speak to the dead. But what does the Bible say about those who claim to have these powers, or about the people who seek them?
"They are the spirits of devils, working miracles" (Revelation 16:14) Says the word of God.
There are certain types of false prophets specifically named and condemned in the Bible, In Deuteronomy 18:10-12 and Revelation 21:8 speak against the following types of false prophets:

A. Charmer--one who casts spells or uses charms.
B. Observer of times--astrologer.
C. Sorcerer--one who claims to contact spirits of the dead.
D. Consulter with familiar spirits--medium, or channeler.
E. User of divination--fortune teller.
F. Enchanter--same as a charmer.
G. Necromancer--another name for sorcerer.
H. Witch--female psychic.
I. Wizard--male psychic
The Scriptures teach plainly that all who become involved with such things are an abomination (Deuteronomy 18:12). And worse, those who continue involvement will be shut out of God's kingdom (Galatians 5:19-21; Revelation 21:8; 22:14, 15).

Why is it so freakin' difficult for Christians to understand that your scriptures apply only to YOU?

If I don't believe in your god and don't regard your scriptures as having any authority over me, why would I be swayed in the least by your endlessly citing what YOUR scripture says about occultism?

Moses and his staff that turned into snake.

B. Observer of times--astrologer.

The three that found Jesus when he was a baby.

Jesus when he saw moses and Elias in the mount.

Those are some seriously funny definitions you have there. Luckily occultism, like almost all beliefs except Christianity it seems, evolves with the times. We now know that magick is simply psychology and science that we will hopefully one day understand better, simply changing our subjective realities. So, what your scripture and definitions say has no bearing.

Why is it so freakin' difficult for Christians to understand that your scriptures apply only to YOU?

If I don't believe in your god and don't regard your scriptures as having any authority over me, why would I be swayed in the least by your endlessly citing what YOUR scripture says about occultism?

It is part of the Christian belief, as all beliefs, that there is some objective reality. For the Christian it is their God and scriptures. There is no reason to enter such discussions if you can't realize that. Until you show them that the line of thought is flawed, how should they know otherwise?

I guess you didn't get the message. You need to look for God and not to people for anything.
there is a good Spirit and bad spirits.
Who is your master God or Satan?

Way to avoid the evidence he put forth.

Honestly, Doors, I don't know why you seem to have felt it necessary to patronize me. I should have thought it evident that my questions were an emotional outburst meant rhetorically.

I was not patronizing... And we should try and keep emotional outbursts out of such important, close to home topics. Never assume anything is self evident.

there is a good Spirit and bad spirits.

There are also neutral spirits.

I wouldn´t put the genocidical "G"od of the old testament as a plainly "good " spirit. He´d be a neutral spirit, because even when he adviced completely awful things, he also proected his people (as long as they worshiped his ego and thus increased his power)

Naturaly, this God of the old testament didn´t want his people worshipping any other gods, because he wanted all the prayers to himself, so he could have all the power of his prayers and their prayers didn´t make stronger any other god.

It also makes sense, given that he was the self acclaimed God of the armies.
