The 3rd Testament - when?

ok, so we have the Old Testament and the New - when will we have the latest?

OT - about 5,000 years out of date , NT a mere 2000.

why has no-one bothered to write the next testament?

this would seem to be the right move now seeing as there is so much conflict, confusion and contradiction in the standard Bible.

who would be allowed to write it and how could it possible be verified as being the word of God?

Why was there never a newer Testament written in 1000AD for instance?

It could just be called the Modern Testament and added to all new editions of the Bible.

I think it is because verifying that something is "the word of god", or "divinely inspired" is very hard to prove these days. Instead of the "because we said so" argument that was accepted back then through faith, or by the tip of a sword.

People are writing Newer Testaments all the time. Urantia, Book of Mormon, Conversation with God, Power of Now, Course in Miracles and on and on and on.

Reverend Moon's teachings collectively are called the "Completed Testament", signifying they are meant to fulfill and complete the Old and New Testaments. I believe that to be true, but how to convince other people? It's not so easy. To put it in perspective, although Christians cherish the words of Jesus and his apostles as the New Testament, most Jews still believe the Old Testament writings are sufficient.

The Qur'an was revealed over twelve hundred years ago....

But I believe the "latest" testament as you put it has already been revealed over a hundred years ago...

I don't see a need for a 3rd testament. That doesn't mean important work won't continue to be published, but that there simply is no need to add another testament.

If we take the Hebrew Bible for an example, Jews believe it goes with the Oral Torah. Really, many see the Hebrew Bible as a living book. That is why the interpretation is updated for new generations.

The same is with the New Testament.

Exactly, its not a static doccument meant to be read in only one single way for all time.. its like a living organism that's highly dynamic and always changing and evolving - so we can constantly apply what we think is "God's will" to today's society.

I think it be really, really cool if the Abrahamic faiths started publishing official books(every 5-10 years maybe?) that would capture what that particular religion considered to be God's expectations of us in that time period. I wouldnt want the books to try and place God in a box or basically present a bunch of super closed minded ideas, but rather they would simply give their religious followers theological issues to think about and apply to their lives in that given time period.

Not sure exactly how probable such an idea is, given every religion has so many denominations that have diverse opinions on pretty much all theological topics.. but I think it be a really cool idea nonetheless.

yes, I guess it would be impossible to do so now with all the various belief systems one can have without being persecuted.

I have been reading some Adventist literature recently which is fairly new in comparison to the Bible (ie:around 150 years old) though it's mainly just putting a different angle on the same thing.

Now , if I were to proclaim myself as the Second Coming of Jesus who could prove me wrong?

The New Testament came with the death of the testator. How would you explain another testament?

well a few things could be changed.

#1 minimalize the mythology to ZERO!

#2 keep a open mind toward science

#3 focus on social aspects of kindness, to a point.

one world, with no religion would stop alot of violence and wars. Ah but we can dream
