Scientology translated is "Study of Truth"
The believe that man can solve his own problems.
I believe that some problems can be solved if we have the knowledge and know how to solve them.
When I spoke to a scientologist and inquired as to how they problem solve. The person said " It's knowing how to know." She gave examples such as:
1. knowing why you do what you do and why we react the way we do. She called it {the reactive mind}. I think of it as PSYCHOLOGY. Psychology, the study of it, may help us to understand how the mind thinks and perhapps what motivates us, knowing why we want what we want. The Greeks have a saying "Know thyself"
I see a spiritual tool in knowing self. Much of God's principles involve self discipline, self mastery such as moderation { eating habits, spending habits}. Self mastery,
1 Corinthians 9:25 "And every man that striveth for the masatery is temperate in all things'
Another example is self restraint such as anger management { a scripture says "be angry and sin not. Ephesians 4:26}.
In knowing self, we may be able to conceive how to adjust our way of reacting to situations so that we are responding a better way.
God provides a way "God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able but will with the temptation also make a way to escape that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians10:13
Some may be suffering because of anxiety. There are many ways to calm yourself such as nature {that is waht calms me}, massage,meditation upon a pleasant thought, calm music, some say aromatherapy, a warm bath or shower,etc, etc,etc
He provides strength and peace of mind " The Lord will give strength unto His people, The Lord will bless His people with peace." Psalms 29:11 also "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13
God is better than Prozac.
God can be your counselor and therapist because He knows you better than any counselor or therapist. He knows those who have affected you such as your family or friends, classmates, coworkers. He knows your history {all that you've experienced} and theirs so you don't have to tell your life story because He already knows it. Pus, He's free {He doesn't charge}.
Judges 18:5 "Ask counsel, we pray thee, of God, that we may know whether our way which we go shall be prosperous."
Psalms 73:24 "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel ..."
Proverbs 8:14 " Counsel is mine and sound wisdom. I am understanding. I have strength."
Proverbs 19:21 "There are many devices in a man's heart, nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand."
Isaiah 1:18 "Come now and let us reason together, saith the Lord..."
These would be good tool working together for those who want to live God's principles.
People have to be motivated in order develope a better character.
2. Knowing how to COMMUNICATE better or RELATE better with others, improving RELATIONSHIPS. I think of social studies, the study of how people deal with each other such as in the work place or relate to each other in a social setting.
It seems that the purpose of Scientologists is to find tools to solve problems. I guess, a way to sum it up would be, guides to self help books. Examples would be books about health and nutrition, financial management and planning {budgetring}, parenting, home improvement, etc etc. Some may help you to know what is causing the problem. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure."
It is their resourceful and practical approach to solving problems.
I've read on the official Scientology website that and I quote "In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true." I gather from this that if I have discovered through observation a truth that truth is true for me and if I am not asked to accept a belief that would oppose mine, I would be able to hold onto my belief in what I have observed to be true. Therefore I believe that we should learn what will help us to help ourselves {self help books}, as much as humanly possible and what we are not able to do for ourselves or when others are not able to help us {such as physicians curing a disease}, we can ask God for His divine providence.
To gain the knowledge of the world we can look to books about other countries, cultures, we can learn the laws that govern them, their politics, their history but to know God and His kingdom, His laws, principles, ways to succeed, what He is willing to provide for us, we can search the scriptures. To know about the spiritual we should search the spiritual, and it's source. The bible has been described as "Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth".
I read on the same website as mentioned above that the Scientologists believe and I quote "Man is immortal, spiritual being" So having instructions before the next life or "higher state of awareness", would be worth looking into. This is how those who Scientologists can benefit from those who believe in a divine source of provision.
We have something to benefit eachother in problem solving.
