Should all sex be banned?

If we're going to ban sex and limit human reproduction to 'test tube' babies, shouldn't there be a government agency that dictates who is allowed to reproduce? That way we can weed out genetic deficiencies and any undesired genetic traits and ultimate strengthen the gene pool. I mean, look how well it worked for Khan Noonian Singh. ;)

A good idea! An agency to control this will make sure that parenthood is only available to couples who can afford it and who can cope with the demands (we can ban reproduction for couples where both people work full time, as they obviously won't have enough time to look after a child!), and we can screen them for genetic problems too! Great idea!

Overall, banning sex because of the ills that 'might' be attributed to it is analogous to banning steak for all people because babies can't chew it. On the surface they might make a little sense, but fortunately neither will ever happen world wide.

Great analogy with the steak. I might have to use that!

There's still a lot of screwing happening under your proposal.

Yes, just not of the carnal variety, because it is icky and the Bible makes it so complicated and it can be abused very easily.

Men are being screwed out of pleasure of orgasm because sperm will be SURGICALLY REMOVED (holy baby jesus!)... because it's so much safer than masturbating?

Because the Bible makes it very clear that masturbating leaves a man unclean for the rest of the day.

I suppose we can make it permissable for a man to masturbate if it is nearly midnight. We'd have to still ban it for shift workers though, because they'll probably have to get up early in the morning and they need their sleep.

Women are being screwed out of pretending like they have orgasms then using that and sex to manipulate guys into weird psychological games that we'll never win only to win the prize of 9 months of pregnancy ... yay ....

Another advantage to my proposal!

Lots of screwing ... just with none of the fun for anyone involved.

But ... they didn't have Quilted Bounty paper towels back in those days ... or Purell hand sanitizers.

This is just proof that technology is undoing some of the Biblical teachings.

I'll bet you anything that they would've been all up in pre-marital sex back in the days if they had E-Harmony or Craigslist back then.

let's face it, there are many reasons for banning sex.

First of all, it's icky. Both the man and the woman produce all kinds of body fluids, lubricants etc, which is messy and requires cleaning up. We've all seen those things on tv where they use that special light in hotel rooms to show that even after the sheets have been washed there's still all sorts of stuff all over the place! Do we really want to be doing that in our own beds?

The bible says it's wrong. Sure, it doesn't say that all sex is wrong, but it sure places a large number of restrictions on it! Leviticus gives a run down on this:

  • if you have sex, then you are unclean until the evening! This could get embarrassing, because as decent people we'd have to warn others so they can avoid touching us and becoming unclean as well. "pleased to meet you! I'd shake your hand, but i had sex this morning and i'm unclean."
  • if a woman has her period, then she isn't allowed to have sex, because she is unclean. Even after her period is finished, she's still unclean for eight days. In fact, you can't even look at a menstruating woman!
  • if a woman has been in a room with a dead body, then she is unclean for seven days.
  • if she has given birth, then she is unclean for 40 days if it was a boy, and for 80 days if the child is a girl!
  • if the woman touches a dead animal - even a dead fly! - then she is unclean for a day.
  • if anyone touches something unclean - and let's face it, what these days isn't? - then they also become unclean.
  • the bible also makes it clear that homosexual sex and masturbation are both wrong as well.
  • and finally, the don't even have sex in heaven!

but there are many other reasons for banning sex.

  • sex can be used as a form of abuse. Even within marriages, one member can use sex to dominate and control the other.
  • sex can spread diseases.
  • sex can lead to genetic abnormalities in children.
  • sex can lead to many other health concerns, such as ectopic pregnancies and other conditions which can jeopardize both mother and child.
  • even today, sex is seen as something that should be done in private. The fact is that most people don't want to watch others having sex. The few people that do are deviants and immoral.
  • sex is suggested everywhere in our society, in advertising particularly. This encourages young people to engage in sexual acts while they lack the emotional maturity to do so. This can lead to emotional and psychological problems.
  • unwanted pregnancies are a very important issue regarding sex. Women can either have an abortion or be forced to put their newborn child up for adoption (a very traumatic experience!) or keep their child, which puts them through a great deal of emotional and financial strain.

so you can see that there are many reasons to ban sex. Wouldn't this result in humans dying out? No. Sperm can be surgically removed from the man, and eggs can be surgically removed from the woman. Fertilization can then take place in a test tube. The fertilized eggs then needs to grow to term in a woman's womb, but birth can be done through caesarean section, avoiding the uncleanliness issues mentioned above.

You have then created Shelly`s the Frankenstein.

IT DOESN'T MATTER!

You see, God, being all knowing, would have known the future, known that we'd develop such things. And yet, he didn't provide for that in the Bible. it says, "...and he will e unclean until the evening." It doesn't say, "...and he will be unclean until the evening, or until they invent antibacterial hand sanitizer."

You've never been in love, have you?

to be 'in love' you must be having sex with that person.

otherwise it is just 'good friend' until some other guy comes along and takes her.

It may seem like love, but is merely a temporary charade.

different with family of course or perhaps with someone you have known for a very, very long time but under ordinary circumstances, the bond of intimacy is needed.

Tibs:

as for masturbation, it does not say in the Bible that you cannot do this.

what is your basis here for this allegation?

I believe NNM is quite correct.

There is no mention of masturbation in the bible.

Some talk about it promoting lustful thoughts.

Some talk about that dude who was punished by god for pulling out of his brothers widow and spilling his seed on the ground.
