You know, most of us here are perfectly fine with people choosing themselves what to believe.
FYI, there is an introductions sub forum.

If you want to form an argument for why you don't believe, that might be a better start.

Good advice, I believe in evolution and the big bang, which is both not mentioned in the bible. I also believe the bible is not legitimate proof of god because it's been changed so many times and not all books are true.

It is also not mentioned in the American constitution. the Bible is not an astronomy book or a biology book, so judging it by these standards is useless. judge the Bible by it's prose, poetry, proverbs, or ideologies.

This is your criteria?
I could make a much more logical claim. it's simply that men, mortal men, write books. and not deities.

Also that.

Hey guys, I'm new here, and atheist.
Welcome to the RF.

It is totally against the rules to proselytize on the RF, so I couldn't preach or teach you, even if I wanted to. And I don't try and teach the word to anyone who doesn't want to hear it. On top of that, I couldn't convert you. Only you can do it and God can if you let Him. If you don't believe in God there is nothing that anyone can do or say that force you to believe.

What do you think of the possibility that we're living in a giant computer simulation (the sort of simulation we should be able to create ourselves after the universe has increased in age by about 0.01% - what an extraordinary coincidence that we're just short of the technology). And the universe has been deliberately constructed with the illusion of evolution to try to fool you.

I also believe the bible is not legitimate proof of god because it's been changed so many times and not all books are true.
And that the universe may only be decades old, with the bible and it's extraordinary philosophy of "love thy enemy" constructed by God to give us some supernatural guidance while still managing to hide his existence so that we could have truly free atheists in the world?

This could have been a pretty cool PKD novel. hmm, probably was.

Why would you ask for such a thing?

You know damn well in the asking you reject all arguments automatically, to what reasonable purpose does this serve?

I don't think atheists reject all arguments automatically. They are inquisitive folks and are interested in seeing the best arguments available (and there are some available). I love atheists (although I am no longer one).

Considering I am an atheist I think it's a fair question. If you are asking someone to purposefully try and convert you, it isn't being open minded, it's picking a fight.

I think open-minded people can pick fights to see if their own belief system can stand up in the free marketplace of ideas. I do that all the time. I want to see people take their best shot at my ideas so that I can strengthen or adjust them, as as far as possible I want to make sure the information in my brain is accurate.
