Romans 14:2

I dont think anyone is saying to go out and blatantly sin, we were talking about eating meat. Most folks on this thread seem to understand, we were saved by grace through faith the moment we believed, and are now passed from death to life and shall not come back into condemnation. See eph :8-9 and John 5:24. Salvation is a free gift, see Romans 5:16-18, and we know we are adopted, God's children, new creations, seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus, sealed by the Spirit, and Jesus said he wil in no wise cast us out. I am told in the Greek it is 5 negatives- He that cometh to me I will never, no never, no never cast out. We know grace is unmerited favor, we are saved only by the blood of Christ, trusting in his death and that alone to pay for our sins. So we do not go back and put heavy yokes we cannot bear with old jewish laws, meats, drink, holy days, circumsision, not to mention many man-made laws. One example was that if you spit in the dirt on the sabbath it made clay and that was work, so you sinned. Probably why Jesus spit in the dirt and made clay to heal the blind man, as a jab at those laws-they were actually hard-hearted cruel leaders who burdened the people needlessly. Anyway, praise God we have liberty in Jesus. All thing are not profitable or expedient, and we are to do our best not to sin, but we do not have to ever again be legalists or suffer from Galatianism, or try to earn or keep our salvation by being good enough or observing some insane set of rules. Jesus has paid it all, he loves us, he forgave us, and that is why we serve him, out of love for him, for what he did for us, that is the motivation for a pure life, nothing more. Peace !

Acts 15:28, 29: "The holy spirit and we ourselves [the governing body of the Christian congregation] have favored adding no further burden to you, except these necessary things, to keep abstaining from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled [or, killed without draining their blood] and from fornication. If you carefully keep yourselves from these things, you will prosper. Good health to you...... so then did the early christians have to ignore the governing body that Jesus was directing? if they did they would be ignoring Jesus .

yes i agree the governing body was being used by God to let the congregations know the nessesary things , it seems there were 4 of them that were deemed nessesary the ones you mentioned ,and also to abstain from blood as well.

We have the "condensed" version now. :D

One thing to keep in mind when reading the apparent harshness of the OT laws: God was pruning Israel to bring forth his son. This was the crux of the laws of the OT. Once salvation had been brought down to earth, God was able to allow even more freedom.

so then were the older men who directed the congregation back then, loving God by making known what God wanted to the congregations ? and did those who listen to them ,love God with all their hearts by listening to the channel that God was using . ?yes i think so, but still it was prophecied in the bible that ones would fall away from the teachings of the early christians ,so it is to be expected really. and as you say every one to their own

Sure may, make it a rule to break a bad habit. Make that habit to break a rule into law. Where am I going with this? Boink! What was that? I just must have broken a rule. Um, Jesus saved me, from the law, not my own stupidity.

does he save us from the nessesery things if we make it a habit of breaking them or even ignoring them .... dont thinkso , especially when we know what they are
Therefore, whether YOU are eating or drinking or doing anything else, do all things for God’s glory 1 corinthians 10 ;31...........

The Bible record shows that early in mankind’s history the Creator and Life-Giver expressed himself on the issue of blood. Right after the global flood, when God first granted humans the right to eat animal flesh, he commanded Noah and his family: "Every moving animal that is alive may serve as food for you. As in the case of green vegetation, I do give it all to you. Only flesh with its soul—its blood—you must not eat."—Genesis 9:3, 4

I have no idea what you are talking about. Just stop for a moment, and look at where you are. That is where you are.

Maybe its because you do not recognize the nessesary things in acts 15;28-29 abstaining fromblood being one of the nessesary things for christians, and abstaining from blood has always been a nessesary requirment for Gods people, even before the mosaic law , so when the many laws were not needed anymore just the nessesary ones ,blood was part of that requirement for christians ,it was on a par with fornication so just as christians would not fornicate they also should not take in blood. so we should not take the liberty of ignoring that requirment.

Fortunately,

times change, and the gospel keeps up with changing attitudes. Look at Paul's teaching about hair or women. They fit in FINE for the day, but were never meant to become a rule for eternity. Things change: thats why there is the "Old Testament" and the "New Testament". Only God is immune from change and I praise him that he is far more flexible than anyone today: Flexible on matters of opinion, but a hard liner on our need to love him and others.

Um, you didn't do what I asked. Can you stop, look at where you are, and describe that? More importantly: feel where you are. And don't worry, it cannot be expressed. That's ok. :clap just subtract the one hand

Well, to me, letters written by Paul and others of that time period was written to those then and not us now. They were written to those then that were already observing and studying the Truth in it's entirety. That being the first 5 books. The Truth, The whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth. Again it's just me but I also follow the way of the Saints as described in:

KJV –

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

and also –

Rev 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

It is the understanding that I have acquired that we are still under most of the Law. The only parts that would have been dismissed by the blood of the lamb would have been just that. Any Law that would have demanded a blood sacrifice. This is written and up-held by Scriptures.

KJV –

Mat 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

We are all still here. The earth and the heavens are still here.

Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

I would be very careful about telling and teaching others what Laws not to follow.

Mat 5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I don't want to say that the ones that spent time with YAHshua didn't know what to do because I believe that they did exactly as they were taught by Him that was sent. Even YAHshua Himself observed all the Law as commanded by His Father. What are we to do? Follow what YAHshua and His Disciples taught or that which others added in Gentile areas of the world by those that we're influenced primarily by pagan rituals and beliefs.

Like I said, it's just me, but I think I'll stick to both the Law and the Faith. No piggy for me. :tsk:
