His name is John Smith and he comes from Texas... I lost his exact address though, I should look it up sometime... =P

The name "Antichrist" appears in the Bible only in the first two Letters of John... its name does not appear in the Book of Revelation, nor in Daniel, nor in any other place in the Bible.

However, its name, "Antichrist", have been applied to the person and his government who will cause the great catastrophic struggles at the end of times: The one who causes the Abomination of Desolation and the Great Tribulation in Matt.24, the Beasts of Revelation 13 and Daniel 7, the man of sin and the son of perdition of 2Thes.2, and others...

So, there are two kind of Antichrists in the Bible:
1- The one of the Letters of John.
2- The one at the end of times, who will reign for 3½ years, the same time of the ministry of Christ!.
Almost a full term hmm...

I think the Anti-Christ is a myth. Nothing more than that.

The antichrist is a metaphor. Let's look at the actual Biblical references to the antichrist. There are only four references in the New Testament and they are all in the Epistles of John.
2:18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
(King James Bible, 1 John)
2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
(King James Bible, 1 John)
4:2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
(King James Bible, 1 John)
1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
(King James Bible, 2 John)

In none of these is the antichrist an individual person, it is the denial of God and Jesus that is the antichrist - a spirit.

My scriptures (Baha`i) speak of hte antichrist as a spirit, not an individual, and suggests the antichrist are many not individual:
"Is this destruction of human life obedience to His laws and teachings? Where does He command it? Where does He consent to it? He was killed by His enemies; He did not kill. He even loved and prayed for those who hung Him on the cross. Therefore, these wars and cruelties, this bloodshed and sorrow are Antichrist, not Christ. These are the forces of death and Satan, not the hosts of the Supreme Concourse of heaven.
No less bitter is the conflict between sects and denominations. Christ was a divine Center of unity and love. Whenever discord prevails instead of unity, wherever hatred and antagonism take the place of love and spiritual fellowship, Antichrist reigns instead of Christ. Who is right in these controversies and hatreds between the sects? Did Christ command them to love or to hate each other? He loved even His enemies and prayed in the hour of His crucifixion for those who killed Him. Therefore, to be a Christian is not merely to bear the name of Christ and say, "I belong to a Christian government." To be a real Christian is to be a servant in His Cause and Kingdom, to go forth under His banner of peace and love toward all mankind, to be self-sacrificing and obedient, to become quickened by the breaths of the Holy Spirit, to be mirrors reflecting the radiance of the divinity of Christ, to be fruitful trees in the garden of His planting, to refresh the world by the water of life of His teachings -- in all things to be like Him and filled with the spirit of His love."
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 6)

popeyesays look at revelation 13:5, The duration of the beast's "the antichrist's" reign over the world will be 42 months. Although possible the writer was talking about satan, but his reign would be undefined and because Jesus's teachings lasted for 42 months it is approiate to assume that "satan" will send his own son.

In the King James, the word "antichrist" is not in Revelations at all. No matter what assumptions might be made the word is absent.

Some religions believe that the anti-Christ is a man that will arise sometime in the next few years and there will be time of peace/prosperity under his rule after which time he will show his true colors leading to the destruction of many. The anti-Christ is not a person but a political power that either is or will come onto the world scene that will promote worship of itself instead of worship of God's Kingdom. Some think that the anti-Christ person will bear the mark of "666". The Bible says that 666 is a man's number that symbolizes human government. The number 6 signifies imperfection, so 666 simply emphasizes the degree of imperfection assigned to this political power which will not be allowed to stand in place of God's Kingdom.

Antichrist means against or instead of Christ. The term applies to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organizations, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the role of Messiah
