What is the value of sacrifice to you?

I cannot speak for anyone else or judge them for their feelings, but I would give my life in defense of someone in danger. Really, I would.

What would you recommend as far as learning/reading for someone looking into Hindu deities and trying to learn more about them?

I understand that Hinduism For Dummies is a good read; Hindu deities - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Hinduism: Beliefs & Practices.

What are your thoughts on someone who prays to a Hindu deva from outside of a Hindu tradition? (Paganism for example)

If the person believes in the deva or devi, that's fine. The Rig Veda (1.164.46) says ekaṃ sad viprā bahudhā vadanti meaning "the truth is one, but the wise know it by many names".

Three friends go to Wallmart, and each buy stuff that cost 25 dollars and pay with 100 bucks. Do to a promotion however, each one of them should only have paid 23 dollars.

If the person in charge of the store gives them 13 dollars back to each, how many shoes have Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva tied up so far?

Friend TbtL,

Sorry, if you hand to change track due to non-availability of signposts on that path but anycase one reaches to the same place whichever way one takes and wish you all the best in reaching; as only in reaching would anything make sense rather then Nothing matters.

So what is this big deal about converting to be SOMEBODY 'X' from SOMEBODY 'Y'??
besides 54 is only a meaningless number where life is ETERNAL.

over to you!

Do you embrace the caste system? If someone's born an untouchable or in a lower caste, can they not work to better themselves, or must they resign to being what they were born as?

I absolutely abhor the idea of caste and social class, especially as American-born. All men and women are created equal. It's reprehensible that any group would (attempt to) suppress any other.

No. But I am learning how Sanskrit works, and can muddle through a passage here and there with the help of a grammar cheat sheet. And my pronunciation of it is improving.

Are you member of ISKCON?

No.

Have you ever been in India?

Maybe, but I don't know for sure. I may have lived there in a past life.
