The Fish

The Fish

Out of the egg I go, many brothers and sisters,

It isn’t long before I start to hear whispers.

To the shallows, we make it with luck,

Right underneath a big red duck.

More and more content as the days go by,

I suddenly realize I’ve lost my right eye.

How did this happen? I felt no pain,

The one who took it, what did he gain?

I look at my brothers, they are just like me,

But they don’t seem to care, they say they’re happy.

Eating from the muck, we stay big and dumb,

The duck keeps eating us until we’re all gone.

But more fish keep coming, we do not diminish,

Will we ever get to know the finish?

To nourish this duck, is this why we exist?

A couple of brothers start to get pissed.

Three of us go away from the flock,

Searching for answers we do not look back.

We meet a few others who have done the same,

What part do we play in this elaborate game?

We meet a fish with both his eyes,

He tells us of the red duck’s lies.

He feeds us a platter of truth and pure food,

It feels fantastic to finally remove the hood.

Across the pond he takes us with haste,

There is very little time to waste.

Green ducks all around, it’s a surprise to see,

Things that I never imagined could be.

Lifted up from the water, our vision is restored,

Our wounds all healed, we must return to the hoard.

Lifted up to the light, we know why we’re here,

We have nothing to lose, no reason to fear.

Our old brothers spit on us and say we don’t belong,

But we just smile and sing a happy song.

After listening to reason, they start to wake up,

Realizing the deceit of the ugly red duck.

Many of them start across the pond,

They think it’s far, but it doesn’t take long.

They go a short distance and the light is much closer,

Out of the darkness comes a faint whisper.

Moving closer to the light, the whisper gets louder,

The red one is scared, he might lose his fodder.

A little further and they would have been set,

Still half blind, most decide to stay wet.

When we get enough fish we will learn to fly,

Out of the water and into the sky.

We will find the red duck and return his right eye,

If he will not take it, then he will surely die.

Either way, the fish will awaken,

They will clearly see the path to heaven.

it seems the symbolism may be a little strange so i thought i'd post a few things to help people understand :)

the big red duck is the devil/anti-christ.
the loss of the right eye is symbolic of not being able to see the right path, only the left-hand(evil) path.
the muck represents the poisons that keep people ignorant and blind. this can be whatever one feels they consume that is bad for them: alcohol, drugs, dead corpses, fast food, it can also be greed, lust, envy.......
the fish with both his eyes would be like a prophet or messenger who has been sent to save and teach the ones that search for truth.
green ducks are the angels
returning the right eye of the red duck means he will be shown the path of truth rather than just the left-hand path of deception and he will be given a chance to repent and amend his ways.
and the fish are people.

hopefully this will help a little. it's not just a story about some one eyed fish ;)
