In the Garden of Eden

whatever

Member
My bible study teacher told me dinosaurs where in the Garden of Eden. He also said dinosaurs didn't eat meat before adam and eve ate the forbidden fruit. If this is true why where dinosaurs designed to hunt and others where designed to eat vegitation? Wouldn't the dinosaurs tear apart humans right after they ate off the forbidden fruit and turn the garden of eden into a blood bath?

Your Bible study teacher would be well to stick to his own territory.
Science is clearly not his strong point.

Perhaps you should ask your science teacher about God and the garden of eden.

I have a hard time believing that Dinosaurs were in the Garden of Eden - but if they were, I'm pretty sure God had the situation under control. Maybe they were so full of grass at the time of the fall that they weren't hungry. Or maybe they weren't interested in a moutfull a human when they could feast on Brontosaurus.

again trying to reconcile science with Genesis.
i have yet to find a satisfactory answer to this problem except for those based strictly on faith.
which is not necessarily a bad thing but lets call it what it is.

Whatever,

Let me ask a favor of you. A long-term project if you will. Find out for yourself what you think the story of Edan is. Specifically and on your own (aka without your bible study teacher's help) find out

1) Where Edan was on earth
2) When it existed
3) Theories on when and where dinosaurs were and how they became extinct
4) basic premises of evolution
5) basic premises of creationism. (garden of edan is a creationist theory)

Set a time frame of anywhere from 6 months to two years to figure the theories of those 5 areas, the merit of each theory and the specific reasons you agree or disagree with the things you read. Best of luck to you.

If you think of the one week creation story as a metaphor for the differant prehistoric eras (i.e. each day representing what scientests would call the jurassic, mesozoic, etc), and the Garden of Eden as the Earth before it was spoiled by man, then you could make a case for dinosaurs being there.

Dinosaurs played a dominant role in life on earth during their age. But then they came to an end. The rock layers containing human fossils consistently occur above those layers containing dinosaur fossils. Because of this, scientists generally conclude that humans came on the earthly scene later

All the animals came first, before man. If you don't believe in the literal "six days" of creation, then that gives the dinosaurs plenty of time to go extinct before man came along, along with other critters that met their own Apocalypse before the Ark.

the bible 6 days were not 24hour days it was a time period of creative days.
Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says that God made "flying creatures" and "great sea monsters." Perhaps other types of dinosaurs were created in the sixth epoch. The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.—Genesis 1:20-24.

When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose, God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when. We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time. They were no mistake, no product of evolution. That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors, and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links, is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory. Instead, it harmonizes with the Bible’s view of creative acts of God.

Hi whatever,
You may find the following article interesting - http://www.answersingenesis.org/tj/v5/i2/diet.asp

Most scientist agree that the earth existed millions of years before man. It was probably sometime during those millions of years that dinosaurs walked the earth. Archaelogy has unearthed skeltal remains of dinosaurs which proves that some were meat-eaters while others ate vegetation. What dinosaurs ate had nothing to do with Adam/Eve. It seems to me that your Bible study teacher is confusing Adam/Eve with the command that God gave Noah after the flood--permission to eat meat.

Props for a clever Simpson's reference. Excellent (Mr. Burns voice)

P.S. Whatever, ask your sunday school teacher to explain why there is no physical evidence of T-Rex an man ever being on Earth at the same time, and then ask him why there was no reference to dinosaurs in the bible, while you are at it.

After the dinosaurs tasted the forbidden fruit they realized that were naked and were ashamed. They were even more humiliated when they found they could do nothing about it -- lacking opposable thumbs. Thereafter, they spent their days hiding in the bushes and avoiding each other, and soon died out.
