I actually am feeling apologetic today regarding this thread. If someone wants to feel that yoga is demonic, then that's actually fin with me. Obviously, for them it is.

Where do they get this crap?

God forbid someone should sit in silent meditation! It might draw in the spirit of God!
The way I've heard it explained is that it's basically the same as an open invitation on a Ouija Board: don't specify what you're calling out to and all sorts of things can show up.

More likely it's the result of Christians seeing their true thoughts.

You know, when I was a kid my friend and I played with a Ouija board. An old man (old to us 12 year olds) from the library gave a creepy warning about "possession". That Ouija board went back in its box so fast! :D

It's the demons, I tells you! Deeeemons!
As is, apparently, stretching. :D

You know, this brings to mind such great Christian brothers as Thomas Merton, David Steindl-rast and others who have been shining examples of love. Likewise, the Desert Fathers also engaged in silent reflection.

Christians are to guard their minds and thoughts in Christ Jesus keeping their focus on Him. The feelings a runner gets or a runner’s high does not prevent one from doing this, nor does enjoying uplifting music, although I would say that some loud, blaring repetitive music could have a negative influence on someone who is not careful. This why a Christian is instructed to use discernment and be on guard especially in regard to things which impact one’s mind and thoughts. Of course these instructions are for believers in Christ who accept God’s Word and trust His warnings concerning the spiritual realm. Non-believers are nevertheless, venerable when they tread into occult practices without understanding the implications or the reality of malicious spiritual beings.

“Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober” the Apostle Peter wrote to the early church (1 Peter 1:13; 4:7; 5:8). The opposite of being sober is, in a Bacchic sense, being drunk with wine (Bacchus was the ancient “party” god of drunkenness and revelry.). Obviously, sober-mindedness deters one from being influenced by the devil or demons (1 Peter 5:8), as also does the filling with the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). The Lord is on record as being against using devices and/or spiritual disciplines to alter consciousness. As the Apostle Paul identified with the Corinthian readers of his letter, “we have the mind of Christ” (1 Corinthians 2:16). Believers are not to entertain practices that will distract them from thinking about the Lord Jesus Christ. To this end, the Holy Spirit directs our minds toward Christ. In this light, Paul wrote to the Colossians, “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2). If a believer’s consciousness needs to be altered, the Lord will do it through His Word as the Holy Spirit centers our consciousness upon Him (John 15:26). In a self-induced way, altering one’s consciousness, or emptying one’s mind, distracts one from the mind of Christ, the mind that objectively is focused and centered upon the Lord Jesus Christ. Consciousness altering is a human work, and while it may induce seeing paranormal visions, hearing paranormal voices or experiencing paranormal visitations, such altering will corrupt the believers mind “from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3).

Why are you hating on Bacchus? Of the Greco-Roman deities He is one of the cooler ones!

This is the same guy that says that male (solo) masturbation is homosexual in nature because, well, you are having sex with a man.

The dude is a nut.

That asteroid/comet can't come fast enough.

I am saying that in response of it prayer in Muslims is best practice for your mind and body than any sort of exercise of practice like that.

I don't think it's demonic but it sure looks fun. Some lady told me it might would be good to learn some yoga for before and after long bike rides. I told her I use old school stretches I learned playing sports in school and that they do okay most of the time.

From what I can see, they've re-named a few positions, they say a prayer or passage from the Bible before/after, and they don't try to achieve union.

So not much. :D
love the way they have developed christian yoga, how easy !!
replace krishna in BG with jesus, then it becomes jesus geeta(JG).

nb: nothing against jesus christ intented.

you mean its possible denying the other? then it would not be just the quality they loves ..

To be honest I am losing focus on what you are saying by now

I mean alot of people have true devotion and love for Christ, but they distrust Krishna because of not knowing him enough or thinking he shold be seen as "bad" because of being of another different religion.

i did not mean it in this situation, once realized they posses same quality it is impossible.

thinking he shold be seen as "bad" because of being of another different religion.
CONDITIONAL love, religion matters to them.

Gaining something from someone and giving credit to some other is a strange character.

Pastor says yoga is demonic. Discuss - do you really believe that?

Seattle pastor Mark Driscoll says yoga is demonic | Seattle's Big Blog - seattlepi.com

The lack of understanding, combined with arrogance and a belief that’s not based on facts, leads to fear. Fear often times leads hatred and/or denouncing something as bad/evil.
Or, maybe this is a case of a person with a mental illness (remember the back-masking of rock-n-roll that was the devil’s music?).
Or simply wanting attention.

Maybe even a combination of all these….?
